Home and Community Mental Care, Inc. is seeking dedicated Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) to join our remote team in Stamford, Connecticut. This role offers a flexible remote work setting, allowing you to conduct therapy sessions in a comfortable environment while meeting clients virtually. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual therapy sessions or facilitate group therapy sessions via telehealth platforms, ensuring accessibility and comfort for clients.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions designed to reduce high-risk behaviors, such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and violence, by teaching clients effective anger management, coping strategies, and social skills.
  • Support decision-making processes for both children and caregivers to address and resolve behavioral challenges that arise in the home setting.
  • Collaborate with the Child Family Treatment Team and external specialists, ensuring a cohesive approach to treatment aimed at enhancing family dynamics.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, in compliance with organizational policies and standards.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, contributing insights and recommendations for best practices and program improvements.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with children and young adults aged 3-20 who are facing developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. Our clientele includes a wide variety of backgrounds and needs, which allows you to utilize a diverse set of therapeutic techniques. Your expertise will be vital in implementing strategies that foster growth, resilience, and well-being amongst our clients and their families.

Qualifications
  • Must possess an active and unrestricted LMFT license in Connecticut.
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is required.
  • Availability to provide services for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week, primarily during after-school hours from 4-7 PM; weekend availability is a plus.
  • A valid driverโ€™s license and access to a registered vehicle are necessary for potential community-based activities.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in providing positive behavior support and working with children who have intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with culturally competent practices, particularly with bilingual capabilities (Spanish or Portuguese), is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in community health settings is a plus, as well as a commitment to fostering inclusive environments for clients.
