Senior Underwriter - UH08BAUnderwriter - UH08BB

As an Energy Express Underwriter at The Hartford, your primary role will be to underwrite Energy guaranteed cost renewal accounts as part of a team of underwriters dedicated to servicing the needs of our agency partners on an account-by-account basis.  They will work in close collaboration with other Energy underwriters & leaders, including the following responsibilities:
Underwriting:
• Underwrites renewal business including some account rounding opportunities
• Seamlessly applies all applicable Underwriting guidelines when making decisions
• Has good knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and governance
• Underwrites renewals within individual authority level
• Consults with Energy referral points on renewals outside of individual authority level
Agency Management:
• Responsible for and influences renewal retention and risk-reward outcomes using HIG pricing and underwriting tools as guidance
• Acts as a trusted advisor to the agency
• Partners with other underwriters in an assigned territory to drive better results and build deeper Hartford agency relationships
Sales:
• Manages cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across team
• Sources opportunities for other team members
Service:
• Consulting with the agents to answer questions regarding coverage, explaining processes, directing the agents to appropriate resources within the Hartford based on their unique needs
• Works with Operations partners to handle mid-term changes that require underwriting involvement.
• Is responsive to the needs of internal and external customers, delivering excellent service in a timely fashion.
Qualifications:
• 4+ years of P&C Middle Market underwriting experience; Renewable, Gasm, Oil and Energy Insurance experience is a plus
• Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions.
• High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit
• Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills
• Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes
• Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win
• Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills.
• A valid driver's license is required to accomplish the required for Business Travel

- This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

- Position title and level will be determined upon evaluation of the selected candidates qualifications, experience, and skills

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$68,000 - $123,600

The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
