Job description

A leading FinTech Company is seeking a Sr. GoLang Engineer for a 12+ month contract role. This role will be remote.
The client delivers technology solutions that are digitally transforming and empowering community banks and credit unions to provide enhanced and streamlined user experiences to their customers and members

Our best-in-class products are just the start as we lay the groundwork for the future of digital banking and payments.
As part of the Platform Delivery team, you will be at the center of the client's Technology Modernization Strategy. In your daily activities as a Senior Go Software Engineer, you will work on a development team creating new banking applications and shared platform services using an innovative technology stack.

This includes working within a microservices architecture and building solutions for core FinTech services such as ACH, Wire Transfers, and Positive Pay. You'll collaborate daily with Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Product Owners, and Business Analysts across the organization, leveraging modern development practices and tools-such as container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, cloud providers like GCP or AWS, observability and monitoring solutions like Datadog or Honeycomb, progressive delivery tools like Argo, and feature flag systems like LaunchDarkly.
This position will be hired to work fully remote within 70 miles of a hub-location (Allen, TX, Birmingham, AL, Cedar Falls, IA, Charlotte, NC, Lenexa, KS, Louisville, KY, Monett, MO, Springfield, MO). Jack Henry also has office locations throughout the U.S

where you can work, if desired. Travel of up to 5% may be required to attend meetings, training, and/or professional conferences. Working hours are 40 hours per week, flexible with overlap in the Central time zone.
What you'll be responsible for:
Building, testing, deploying, maintaining, and scaling backend services in a microservices architecture using the Go programming language in an agile development environment running and leveraging services on a major cloud platform.
Working collaboratively to identify needs, prioritize and plan work, and develop solutions that keep pace with product development.
Gaining a deep and comprehensive understanding of specific banking-related domains your team owns and working with and understanding how changes in those domains impact products.
Participating with customer support teams to resolve or diagnose defects and issues.
Continually growing your technical skill set.
May perform other job duties as assigned.
A successful candidate for this position should possess good knowledge of idiomatic Go, prioritizing simplicity and performance through built-in constructs for concurrency and efficiency

They would be a production-focused engineer who understand the entire software lifecycle beyond writing code itself, including the crafting of containers, building and understanding Kubernetes deployments, and treating observability as a core requirement through integration of tracing, metrics, structured logging, and alerts. They can provide immediate value by bridging technical depth with an operational mindset, understanding how each service is not only functional, but scalable, maintainable, and observable.
What you'll need to have:
Minimum 6 years of programming experience, with a minimum of:
2 years of back-end programming/development experience
2 years of programming experience with Go/Golang.
Capable of leading technical efforts of larger products, including planning and communication, breaking down work into smaller units, and tracking work across the team. Able to apply knowledge of observability, scale, and performance in software development

Experience debugging issues in production, identifying customer issues, or resolving problems with a release pipeline or deployment.
What would be nice for you to have:
Bachelor's degree in computer science is desired but not required.
Experience in Financial Technology (FinTech). This team works on ACH, Wire Transfers, and Positive Pay.
Experience working in a microservices architecture.
Experience with any or all of the following: continuous integration pipelines, observability, monitoring, Postgres, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
A sense of ownership of your deliverables, from working with product managers to define the scope, all the way through supporting your work in production. We take pride in the quality software we write as a team and want to work with someone who has the same level of care.
