Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Senior Data Engineer leads the design, implementation, optimization, and support of complex enterprise data engineering solutions that enable scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms. Provides technical leadership for the development of advanced data pipelines, integration frameworks, data quality processes, observability, and monitoring capabilities.
Partners with architects, analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to design resilient engineering solutions, improve platform reliability, resolve complex technical challenges, and mentor other engineers.
Drives continuous improvement initiatives that enhance performance, automation, scalability, and operational excellence across enterprise data platforms.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • **Core Delivery (Essential Skills)
  • Own delivery and operational outcomes for one or more assigned data domains.
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows using approved platform tools.
  • Make informed technical design decisions within assigned domains to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate AI into engineering workflows and operational processes.
  • Establishes best practices for application lifecycle management (ALM), deployment pipelines, source control, and environment governance across the Power Platform.
  • Leads the design, development, optimization, and governance of enterprise Power Platform solutions, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Copilot Studio. Mentors team members and establishes reusable development standards.
  • Designs enterprise-grade Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, Power BI solutions, and Copilot Studio agents that integrate with Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and enterprise systems.
  • Translate analytics and reporting requirements into durable, production-ready data solutions.
  • **Integration & Alignment (Connect the Dots)
  • Create and maintain integrated data views from multiple source systems across EMR and non-EMR environments.
  • Ensure reliability, availability, and performance of data pipelines and platform components within assigned domains.
  • Anticipate platform changes (e.g., cloud platform evolution, Epic upgrades) and assess downstream impact.
  • **Continuous Improvement (Innovations & Process Improvement)
  • Lead resolution of complex incidents and contribute to root cause analysis and preventative improvements.
  • Design and implement data models that support flexible querying, analytics, and reporting use cases.
  • Organize and enrich data to ensure it is analytics-ready and reusable by BI developers and analysts.
  • **Influence & Stewardship (Leadership)
  • Support development and refinement of datasets used for advanced analytics, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Partner with BI developers, Data Integrity teams, and Data Science to ensure data solutions meet analytical rigor.
  • Act as a technical thought partner to Associate and Standard engineers (excluding formal mentorship).
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7 or more years experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, software development, or a related technical role.;*SQL experience, including complex query optimization and data preparation.;*cloud-based data platforms or enterprise data environments.;* solid experience designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable data solutions.;*experience with version control (Git) and scripting (Python preferred).;*experience designing and implementing Power Platform solutions including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio.;*experience designing and optimizing data pipelines and governed architectures specifically for advanced AI/ML workloads.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Exposure to healthcare data concepts, regulated environments, or data privacy fundamentals.
  • Exposure to data quality validation or basic data governance concepts.

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Epic Cogito Fundamentals (COG170) certification. Course completion required within 12 months of hire or promotion into this position.
  • Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900) certification. Course completion required within 12 months of hire or promotion into this position.
  • Caboodle Data Model (CDW110v) certification. Course completion required within 12 months of hire or promotion into this position.
  • Caboodle Development Fundamentals (CDW300v) or Data Engineering on Microsoft Azure (DP-203) certification. Course completion required within 12 months of hire or promotion into this position.

Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • Caboodle Development for Clarity Data (CDW320) certification
  • Caboodle Development for Non-Clarity Data (CDW330) certification
  • Data Engineering on Microsoft Azure (DP-600) certification.
