Job description

Our agency is looking to add another remote employee in our Quoting Department at MGM Associates of Rochester that is licensed and experienced on working with New York State insurance coverage, NYS insurance regulations, and New York State insurance company underwriting guidelines for over 3 years.We are looking for an applicant that enjoys helping customers obtain commercial coverage by quoting their insurance needs, engaged in learning new coverage topics, staying up to date with new advances in the insurance field, and comfortable using technology required in our day-to-day process in our fully paperless environment. This position is geared towards a highly motivated individual with an outstanding, positive work ethic using their experience obtained throughout their insurance career. This job requires quoting risks such as: commercial package, businessowner’s, New York Auto plan/assigned risk, livery, commercial auto, dealer plates, bonds, workers compensation, disability, cyber, inland marine, builders’ risk, management liability coverages,etc.Most importantly, the position requires an applicant to understand the risk as a whole and to have direct interaction with the client so that it builds a solid relationship.

Responsibilities

1) Quoting commercial accounts online and by carrier submission for new and renewal accounts.

2) Toexpediate quotes contact accounts directly by phone for required information needed to complete timely quote process if data needed is not available from the account manager or marketing representative.

3) To complete quoting timely by the Need by Date. If not able to meet the need by date, you need to contact by phone the account manager or marketing representative with the reasons.

4) To build a positive working relationship with each company underwriter and maintain agency professional relationship with the carrier.

5) To follow agency procedures in documenting all activities as initiated , ongoing correspondence and attaching all emails as you receive them.

6) To learn the carrier’s appetites so to minimize time spent submitting to carriers that won’t write the account.

7) To work professionally with the account managers,marketing representatives and all other staff.

8) To proactively and professionally question by phone underwriting decisions in regards to declinations, pricing that are not reasonable .

9) Always negotiate by phone the premiums with positive reasons to justify the credits (claim free, years in business, new/rehabbed property etc.)

10) Review quotes to find“best for the client.”

11) We quote what the client ask for and include what they should have as an option.

12) When a quote is ready for the insured contact the account manager or marketing representative by phoneso they can discuss with insured/prospect.

13) If a proposal is requested by account manager or marketing representative you will be given an activity from the account manager or marketing representative with directions such as but not limited to eff date, if LPR’s needed, what lines are being sold ,payment plan and who to send proposal to for signature.

14) Once proposal is ready send to insured/prospect using RSIGN.

15) When signed document is received , confirm payment received thru vcheck system , cash or credit card . After payment has been received bind coverage with the carrier.

16) If LPR’s are included , don’t send them till we have proof of our bind order is confirmed.

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

  1. Have over 3 years of commercial lines insurance quoting experience within an independent agency setting.
  2. Must have active New York State Property Casualty License.
  3. Self-motivated in certain insurance situations to first: ask insured, second: ask underwriter/main insurance company to contact for questions, and lastly ask outside credible insurance source.
  4. Able to handle difficult scenarios and solve them on own.
  5. Carefully review customer’s policy for coverage deficiencies.

Prior On-The-Job Insurance Knowledge Requirement:

  1. Comprehensive understanding of ISO and URB forms and the difference between the two when quoting coverage.
  2. Ability to quote all types of commercial coverage within an insurance company website and/or sending manual submission to underwriters.
  3. Know how to quote and bind excess lines policies.
  4. Ability to learn an agency management system (example we use: Epic) to document all work emails.
  5. Experience using an electronic document software to get signatures from customers for new quotes and/or rewrites and documenting back into the agency system.
