Job Summary
Aretum is seeking a Senior Data Analytics Consultant to support a DHS CISA program. This role will focus on developing, maintaining, and enhancing data analytics, reporting, and visualization solutions that provide leadership and stakeholders with clear, actionable insights. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Power BI, SQL, data modeling, data transformation, and dashboard development, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful reporting for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Create, maintain, and enhance interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for business and technical stakeholders.
  • Develop reusable project dashboards that provide real-time visibility into project status, progress, risks, key metrics, and technical milestones.
  • Use Power BI and related tools to analyze project data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights to support project planning and execution.
  • Design and implement data visualization and reporting solutions that improve transparency around process assessments, data integrity, and information governance initiatives.
  • Clean, transform, and model data from multiple sources to support analytics, reporting, and decision-making needs.
  • Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
  • Establish and maintain standardized reporting and visualization tools to support leadership visibility and informed decision-making.
  • Utilize tools such as Power Automate to automate repetitive tasks, including status report generation, task reminders, and notifications for overdue items.
  • Communicate complex data findings in a clear, actionable manner to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Present findings, trends, and recommendations to stakeholders in support of strategic planning and operational improvements.
  • Stay current with Power BI updates, data visualization practices, and industry trends to continuously improve reporting solutions.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, dashboard development, or related data-focused roles.
  • Experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
  • Advanced knowledge of DAX for calculations, reporting logic, and data modeling.
  • Proficiency with Power Query, including M language, for data transformation and preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and optimize complex data models.
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction, manipulation, integration, and reporting.
  • Experience writing efficient queries and optimizing database interactions.
  • Experience designing intuitive, interactive dashboards and reports for business and technical audiences.
  • Ability to translate complex metrics and data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data visualization best practices and user experience principles.
  • Proficiency in data cleaning, merging, transformation, and validation to support data quality and reliability.
  • Experience preparing data from multiple sources for analysis and reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and data modeling.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust eligibility and/or client suitability.
  • U.S. citizenship or Green Card holder status with at least three years of U.S. residency, as required by the federal client.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with federal financial, budget, or procurement data.
  • Experience working with budget spend plans, financial reporting, or procurement-related datasets.
  • Familiarity with FFMS or similar federal financial management systems.
  • Understanding of the congressional budget cycle.
  • Experience with SQL Server, Azure, or cloud-based data solutions.
  • Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis.
  • Prior experience supporting DHS, CISA, or other federal consulting environments.
