Life Well Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is passionate about enhancing client well-being. This remote, full-time position offers the opportunity to deliver professional mental health services in a telehealth setting, making mental healthcare more accessible for clients in the Bakersfield, California area. The ideal candidate will be equipped to foster therapeutic relationships, conduct mental health assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions.

Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a fully remote telehealth facility, allowing counselors to provide critical mental health services from the comfort of their own homes while ensuring a flexible work-life balance. As part of the Life Well team, you will collaborate with a network of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and primary care providers, to deliver comprehensive care to our clients. The use of advanced electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, will enhance your ability to document cases and communicate effectively with the care team.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough initial interviews to capture comprehensive client history and document all aspects of the case from assessment to treatment completion.
- Evaluate clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health through structured assessments and therapeutic dialogues.
- Craft individualized treatment and intervention plans tailored to the diverse needs of individuals, families, and groups.
- Facilitate engaging one-on-one therapy and dynamic group therapy sessions, employing evidence-based techniques to educate and empower clients.
- Monitor client progress throughout the treatment process, adjusting intervention plans as necessary to improve outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with other mental health specialists, including doctors, nurses, and social workers, to provide coordinated and comprehensive client care.
- Communicate with psychiatrists to follow up on any medication management concerns for clients requiring inpatient care.
- Proactively identify and address potential obstacles to recovery, implementing strategies to support client resilience.
- Provide support to family members and primary caregivers, equipping them with tools to address behavioral challenges related to mental health.
This role primarily focuses on diverse clients with varying mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other behavioral health challenges. The counselor will engage with individuals of all ages, tailoring interventions that resonate with different life stages and cultural backgrounds. The telehealth model allows for greater flexibility in client engagement and supports continuity of care, which is essential for effective treatment and recovery.
Qualifications- A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Active and valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of California.
- Successful completion of the National Counselor Exam (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
- Demonstrated experience in a clinical mental health counseling role, preferably in a telehealth environment.
- Proven proficiency with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, to manage client information efficiently.
- Strong familiarity with a variety of mental health conditions and treatment modalities, including addiction disorders.
- Knowledge of the best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
- Exemplary communication skills—both written and verbal—coupled with a compassionate and supportive demeanor.
- Experience implementing evidence-based therapeutic practices and familiarity with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions.
- Prior experience working in a remote environment or telehealth setting is highly desirable.
- Experience interacting with multi-disciplinary teams to create holistic treatment plans.
Life Well Counseling Center offers an attractive compensation range of USD 80,000 to 100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
