In this role, you will leverage your expertise to provide compassionate mental health care to diverse populations, particularly focusing on mothers and individuals from underrepresented communities. Your contributions will directly influence the mental well-being of our clients and the surrounding community, and you'll play a vital role in enhancing the accessibility of mental health services.

About the Organization

Brave Affirmation Counseling Services, Inc. is a forward-thinking mental health provider located in Sandy, Oregon. Our mission is driven by a commitment to promoting mental wellness and offering vital support to those navigating life’s challenges. We specialize in providing accessible outpatient services tailored to the unique needs of individuals, particularly those impacted by socioeconomic factors. Our approach emphasizes understanding, respect, and integration of cultural contexts into therapeutic practices.

Work Environment

The work setting for this position is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility while ensuring that you maintain a full schedule of therapy sessions. Our outpatient model encourages therapists to focus on providing high-quality care without excessive administrative burdens. You will have access to electronic medical record (EMR) systems that streamline documentation processes, enabling you to focus more on direct patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and formulating diagnoses using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders V (DSM V) standards.
  • Craft individualized treatment plans that align with established guidelines for various diagnoses, ensuring that they are realistic and achievable for clients.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic models, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavior modification, and brief therapy techniques during counseling sessions.
  • Deliver clinical supervision and guidance to Mental Health Workers and therapy assistants, ensuring the adherence to professional standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate and develop collaborative treatment plans with other healthcare providers and community professionals to deliver comprehensive care for clients.
  • Respond skillfully to crisis situations, assessing clients’ immediate needs and providing timely interventions while connecting them to necessary resources.
  • Facilitate training sessions for team members and community stakeholders on relevant mental health topics, contributing to collective knowledge and awareness.
  • Perform intake assessments, including the Integrated Biopsychosocial Assessment, to establish baselines for client progress and needs.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Throughout your role, you will primarily work with client populations that often face barriers to access, including mothers, families, and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. Your efforts will help reduce stigma around mental health and foster a supportive environment where clients feel valued and understood.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctorate degree in clinical psychology, counseling, or clinical social work (e.g., MA, MS, MSW, MFT, MHC, PhD, PsyD) from an accredited institution.
  • An active independent license in the state of Oregon or reciprocity (LCSW, LMFT, LPC) to practice without supervision.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and comfortable using digital communication tools.
  • Strong understanding of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, fostered through experience in direct client interaction.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively and navigate relationships with larger healthcare providers and support staff.
  • A genuine passion for impacting lives positively and contributing to the evolution of behavioral health care.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic methodologies in clinical settings.
  • Prior participation in community mental health outreach initiatives or similar programs.
  • Expertise in working with vulnerable populations and understanding the inequalities in healthcare access.
  • Prior supervisory or mentoring experience within a mental health context.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is set between USD 100,000 and 105,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance packages.
  • Life and disability insurance to support your overall well-being.
  • Professional liability insurance to safeguard your practice.
  • A robust employee assistance program, focusing on mental health support for both staff and clients.
  • Minimal paperwork requirements to maximize time spent engaging with clients.
