Job description

A & A Customs Brokers has been clearing shipments across the Canadian border since 1979. We're looking for an experienced and customer-focused Air Ocean Customs Clearance Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working at a customs brokerage in Canada. This position is critical to ensuring shipments are handled in a timely and efficient manner, working collaboratively with the Air/Ocean team to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

What you'll do

  • Review documentation and prepare customs release entries for processing.
  • Process and manage air and ocean container releases.
  • Analyze documents to determine applicable tariff classifications, duties, and tax rates.
  • Collect supplementary information or documentation as needed from customers, carriers, CBSA, and others.
  • Arrange deliveries for air and ocean shipments and payment of terminal fees.
  • Communicate with clients by email - clear, concise, and service-focused.
  • Handle and resolve challenging situations professionally and calmly.
  • Liaise with other teams for entry follow-up as required.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Canadian ports and warehouses.
  • Enter data into our systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete files within required timeframes and in line with A & A and Canadian regulations.
  • Review files for accuracy and errors, ensuring full compliance.
  • Handle phone inquiries.
  • Take on other duties as they come up - we're a team.


What you bring

  • 2+ years of customs clearance coordination, ideally specializing in air/ocean shipments (preferred).
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or an equivalent Canadian designation (preferred).
  • A strong understanding of Canadian rules and regulations for importing goods.
  • Tech-savviness. You pick up new systems quickly and like finding efficiencies in digital tools. Experience with ITMr4, Cargowise, and/or CANdata is an asset.
  • Confidence with Gmail/Front, Google Drive, and Google Sheets.
  • Sharp problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Professional written and verbal communication, including active listening.
  • Effective work habits: punctual, responsive, and comfortable juggling priorities.
  • A highly organized, self-starting, flexible, and independent approach, which is important in a remote role.


The Details

  • Location: Remote - work from home from most locations across Canada. (Some eligibility and home office requirements apply).
  • Hours: Full-time, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday to Friday.
  • Salary: $50,000 - $60,000, plus a competitive benefits package.
