Job description

Supply Chain Business Analyst - Global Logistics, Tax & Customs
Location: Remote - Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Austin, TX; Raleigh/RTP, NC; or San Jose, CA
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support global supply chain transformation initiatives across Logistics, Tax, Customs, and Global Trade.
This is a highly cross-functional, consulting-focused role for someone who can take an initial business request, understand the operational impact, identify the right questions and stakeholders, research areas that are unclear, and help drive the initiative through resolution. Projects may involve establishing new international shipping lanes, onboarding manufacturing sites or suppliers, supporting expansion into new countries, or determining the requirements needed to move products between global locations.
The ideal candidate does not need to be a Tax or Customs subject matter expert. However, they should have enough experience within global supply chain and logistics to understand the considerations involved in international product movement and know how to investigate requirements related to customs, tax, import/export regulations, country of origin, carriers, brokers, and other trade considerations.
This individual will work closely with business stakeholders, Global Trade and Compliance teams, suppliers, manufacturing partners, and IT to translate operational needs into clear business requirements and support solutions through implementation and UAT.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Business Analyst and consulting partner for global Supply Chain, Logistics, Tax, and Customs initiatives.
  • Meet with stakeholders to understand business needs, proposed changes, challenges, and desired outcomes.
  • Independently investigate business and operational questions, identify gaps, engage the appropriate subject matter experts, and summarize findings and recommendations.
  • Support initiatives involving new international shipping lanes, manufacturing locations, suppliers, customers, and global product flows.
  • Evaluate logistics considerations including carriers, brokers, shipping methods, documentation, legal entities, and operational requirements.
  • Partner with appropriate SMEs to understand customs, tax, import/export, country-of-origin, regulatory, and trade requirements associated with proposed changes.
  • Translate business and operational needs into clear Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), functional requirements, and actionable requests for IT.
  • Partner with IT teams throughout solution design, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Develop UAT test cases and scenarios based on established business requirements.
  • Validate system changes and outputs to ensure solutions meet the original business and operational need.
  • Review trade and logistics-related outputs such as shipping documentation, country information, country of origin, and other required transaction data.
  • Troubleshoot issues and help determine whether the root cause is related to business requirements, system configuration, logistics processes, or trade requirements.
  • Coordinate across multiple global teams and drive follow-up actions through completion.
  • Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while gradually taking ownership of increasingly complex projects.
  • Develop a strong understanding of existing business processes and provide additional knowledge coverage across the organization.

Required Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Supply Chain, Logistics, Global Trade, Program Management, or a related field.
  • Strong Business Analyst skills, including requirements gathering, process analysis, stakeholder management, and translating business needs into actionable requirements.
  • Experience creating BRDs and/or functional business requirements.
  • Experience developing test cases and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Experience working with IT teams on system, process, or business transformation initiatives.
  • Experience within global supply chain or logistics environments involving international movement of physical products.
  • Working knowledge of customs, tax, import/export, Global Trade, or international logistics considerations.
  • General understanding of areas such as shipping lanes, carriers, customs brokers, country of origin, trade restrictions, duties/tariffs, and international shipping requirements.
  • Ability to independently research unfamiliar business or regulatory questions and determine the appropriate resources and stakeholders needed to reach a resolution.
  • Experience interacting with suppliers, manufacturers, logistics providers, and/or other external partners.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work through ambiguous business problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across business, technical, and operational teams.
  • Comfortable supporting global teams and occasionally adjusting working hours for meetings across different time zones.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle ERP platforms; SAP or other enterprise ERP experience will also be considered.
  • Experience within semiconductor, electronics, networking, computer hardware, or other high-tech manufacturing environments.
  • Experience within medical device, automotive, or other complex global manufacturing environments may also be considered.
  • Experience supporting new manufacturing sites, suppliers, international shipping lanes, or geographic expansion initiatives.
  • Experience with Global Trade Management processes or systems.
  • PMP certification.
  • Six Sigma certification.
