What is a remote immigration paralegal?

A Remote Immigration Paralegal assists immigration attorneys with legal research, document preparation, client communication, and case management while working from a remote location. They help with visa applications, green cards, citizenship petitions, and other immigration matters. Strong knowledge of immigration laws, attention to detail, and proficiency with legal software are essential for this role.

What does a remote immigration paralegal do?

A typical day for a Remote Immigration Paralegal involves drafting and organizing petitions, gathering supporting documentation, tracking case deadlines, and conducting legal research. Most work is done independently from a home office, but frequent collaboration occurs through video calls, emails, and secure document-sharing platforms to coordinate with supervising attorneys and update clients on case progress. Paralegals also respond to client inquiries and ensure all case files are current and complete. This remote structure allows for flexibility but also requires strong self-motivation and proactive communication to ensure all team members and clients are aligned. Effective virtual teamwork is key to maintaining efficiency and quality in legal case management.

To thrive as a Remote Immigration Paralegal, you need a solid understanding of immigration law, strong research and writing skills, and experience with preparing and managing legal documents, often supported by a paralegal certificate or relevant degree. Familiarity with document management systems, immigration case management software (like INSZoom or LawLogix), and proficiency in Microsoft Office are typically necessary. Exceptional attention to detail, initiative, time management, and the ability to communicate clearly, particularly in a virtual environment, are important soft skills. These competencies are essential for delivering timely, accurate legal support while successfully collaborating with attorneys and clients from a remote setting.

Are remote immigration paralegals in demand?

Remote immigration paralegals are in demand due to increasing immigration cases and the need for legal support. Employers value skills in legal research, document preparation, and familiarity with immigration laws, making remote roles a growing part of the legal support workforce.

How do I become a remote immigration paralegal?

To become a remote immigration paralegal, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, with some roles preferring an associate degree or paralegal certification. Relevant skills include knowledge of immigration law, strong organizational abilities, and proficiency with legal software. CORPORATE IMMIGRATION PARALEGAL

Why This Role Stands Out

This is NOT a back-office paralegal role.

You’ll be a key player in driving cases forward, working directly with attorneys and clients, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.

Your work will have real impact—helping individuals and companies navigate life-changing immigration matters with confidence and clarity.

You’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative team delivering sophisticated immigration solutions to a diverse, global client base—from multinational companies to entrepreneurs, researchers, and creatives.

If you take pride in precision, move fast without sacrificing quality, and want your work to truly matter to clients—this is your seat.

We are a woman-owned boutique immigration firm known for our high-touch, highly strategic approach.

We don’t just process cases—we partner with our clients to simplify complex immigration challenges and guide them toward success.

Our philosophy:

Simplify. Strategize. Succeed.

What You’ll Do

You’ll own critical pieces of the case lifecycle and play a key role in delivering an exceptional client experience:

  • Prepare and file H-1B and PERM cases with accuracy and efficiency
  • Draft petitions, forms, letters, and supporting documents
  • Manage deadlines and keep cases moving proactively
  • Communicate directly with clients to collect information and provide updates
  • Maintain highly organized, audit-ready case files
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys to ensure quality and consistency

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t need to be chased.

This role may be considered fully remote for candidates based in New Jersey or New York.

Core Requirement:

  • Candidates must have prior experience in a law firm setting supporting employment-based immigration matters. This is the baseline requirement for the role.

Preferred Experience (not mandatory):

  • PERM labor certification experience
  • Other employment-based immigration processes (H-1B, I-140, adjustment of status, etc.)
  • We are open to reviewing candidates who may not have direct PERM experience, provided they have solid employment-based immigration exposure and demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe great work should be well-supported and well-rewarded:

  • Starting salary of $80,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Annual discretionary bonus

Health & Financial:

  • Medical, dental, and vision (eligible after 91 days)
  • Life insurance + optional STD/LTD
  • 401(k) with matching (eligible after 1 year)

Time Off:

  • 10 vacation days annually
  • Firm-wide break between Dec 24 – New Year’s
  • PTO accrual starts at 90 days (1 day/month; full 10 days unlocked at 6 months)
  • 40 hours paid sick leave (usable after 120 days)
  • Parental leave
  • 2 days paid bereavement leave

Perks:

  • Free parking
  • Free gym membership
  • In-building café
  • Pet-friendly office
