What is remote hunting?

A Remote Hunting job typically involves finding and recruiting remote talent for companies or assisting hunters in locating game using digital tools like GPS mapping and remote cameras. It may also refer to scouting hunting locations, providing virtual hunting guides, or managing online hunting communities. The responsibilities depend on the specific industry, but they generally require strong research skills, communication abilities, and familiarity with digital tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote hunting, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Hunting roles, such as remote sales prospecting or talent hunting, you need excellent research skills, strong communication abilities, and a results-driven mindset, often supported by a relevant background in recruitment or sales. Proficiency with remote collaboration tools, CRM or applicant tracking systems, and digital outreach methods is crucial. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for success in remote environments. These skills and qualities are vital for consistently identifying and engaging potential leads or candidates while managing tasks independently and effectively from afar.

What are some of the common challenges faced in remote hunting positions and how can they be overcome?

Remote hunting professionals often face challenges such as sourcing quality leads or candidates without face-to-face meetings, building trust through digital communication, and staying self-motivated in a virtual work environment. Overcoming these challenges involves utilizing robust research techniques, leveraging digital communication strategies to engage prospects, and maintaining regular check-ins with your team. Many professionals find that creating a clear daily routine and actively participating in virtual team meetings helps them stay on track and connected. With the right tools and discipline, remote hunters can achieve high levels of productivity and job satisfaction while working from anywhere.

Job description

Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, Moultrie (www.moultrie.com) is the leader in game feeders and cellular camera innovation, building products used by hunters, property owners, and others for real-time remote monitoring.

We take pride in developing deep user understanding, obsessing about the details, and going the extra mile to show our users we love them. Moultrie is customer-driven – hardware, software, marketing, and customer success teams collaborate to deliver a quality user experience.

We are guided by the following principles: Customer Obsession.; Excellence is the Standard.; Bias for Action.; Act Boldly.; Deliver Results.; Hire and Develop the Best.; Be Curious and Learn.; Win as a Team

Job Summary

As Device Subscription Product Manager, you own Moultrie’s cellular data-plan business: the subscriptions that connect customers to their land. You run a critical, mature business that grows through retention and optimization more-so than new features, marketing, or hype. You own pricing, entitlement strategy, churn strategy, and the retention forecast and the related KPIs.

You will lead a team of product owners covering camera-derived intelligence, the onboarding funnel, and retention, and your team is accountable for matching subscription with value so that customers stay engaged.

Job Responsibilities
  • Own, clarify and share the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and lead the org by effectively conveying the voice of the customer through artifacts and ceremonies.
  • Own, monitor, and drive the KPIs that drive your business: ARPD, ADPU, WAU, Data Plan NPS, Retention and Churn Rates, and Seasonality Reduction.
  • Run your monthly business review.
  • Build and maintain the pricing and financial models behind data plan strategy, and gain consensus from leadership.
  • Develop and maintain the data plan subscription roadmap that achieves the company’s goals.
  • Relentlessly prioritize the development that provides the greatest customer value.
  • Decompose churn by cause and design the product response to each.
  • Run pricing and positioning experiments and research, including entitlement changes across plan tiers to determine which offers appeal to customers
  • Own the data-plan revenue forecast jointly with Finance and participate in monthly R&O.
  • Lead two to three product owners: empower them to own their KPIs, scopes, and align their strategic thinking.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and development of the product.
  • Partner with UX, Research, Data Science, SW Team(s), and Marketing and CS to implement, launch, and support cutting-edge solutions.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree Business, Economics, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, or Computer Science or related field (in lieu of degree we will consider candidates with equitable years of professional work experience)
  • A minimum of five (5) years total related experience with a preference towards subscription and service businesses
    • 3+ years in product management (preferably as a product manager) or working in strategic analysis and planning
    • 2+ years of researching and generating business cases and proposals that can be converted into well-articulated and valuable deliverables
    • 2+ years of experience working within an agile-lean software product development method, such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience where a subscription is tied to a physical device
  • Experience in mobile app subscription flows on iOS and Android
  • Expertise in at least one project management tool such as JIRA or Azure Dev Ops
  • Expertise in at least one design collaboration tool such as Whimsical or Figma
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework and/or Agile Release Trains
  • A background in, and product knowledge of the hunting, fishing, or outdoor sporting goods market
  • Experience in finance, accounting, or FP&A
