Purpose
Support operations, monitoring, and proactively maintain companies' systems and technologies, including VMware, Windows Servers, IIS, including other applications
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provisioning virtual machines through the use of VMware and Hyper-V platforms, including physical servers
Creation of domain accounts for service use or security groups
Generate system utilization reports utilizing monitoring tools such as SolarWinds 7 Vrops
Assist with web application update deployments from stage/development servers to production servers. Including but not limited to copying files to servers and managing IIS services and application pools
Work off a ServiceNow platform to manage assigned tickets
Perform routing system updates, patches, and upgrades
Collaborate with senior administrators/engineers to optimize server performance and reliability
Participate in disaster recovery drills and testing
Collaborate with the IT Service Desk to resolve user issues in a timely manner and provide level 1 technical support to the escalated issues within the SLA standards
A working knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as Windows Server 2016 and higher, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, IIS 7.0, Remote Desktop Servers, and other Windows Server roles and technologies
Server Application Management: Administration of server-bound applications such as IIS, Active Directory, and VMware
Follow and enforce IT standards and best practices to ensure a high degree of user satisfaction and high system availability
Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to respond to common inquiries or escalations for other IT units
Remote Access: Configure and maintain remote access technologies and access, such as Remote Desktop Services
Monitor Storage: Manage and administer SAN/NAS technologies, servers, and VMware Datastore storage
Assist in the planning and execution of network and server technology migrations
On-site physical work with the ability to lift server equipment, rack & stack, cabling, etc.
Work independently with very little supervision while providing clearly documented activities via weekly summary reporting
Time management, teamwork, and a commitment to learning new skills
Available for rotating on-call scheduling
Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as needed
Qualifications and Education Requirements
1-3 years of experience with IT maintenance and technical support
Candidates with certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, and MCITP will be given higher consideration
Azure Fundamentals certification is desired but not necessary
ITIL 4 Foundation Certified is desired but not necessary
Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
Strong understanding of all the following Microsoft infrastructure applications: Windows Servers, Active Directory, Remote Desktop Services, Internet Information Services
Working knowledge of the following infrastructure hardware: Dell and HP server hardware
Excellent attitude and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well in a team and independently
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies
