Every Body Texas is a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring all Texans have access to safe, unbiased, high-quality sexual and reproductive healthcare. Based in Austin, TX, the organization also provides technical assistance and partners with healthcare providers and research institutions to advance access to care across the state.
Position Overview
The Human Resources Director, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing organizational effectiveness through strategic human resources leadership, performance, project management systems, operational management, and cross-functional coordination.
This position serves as a key thought partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, ensuring that people, operational processes, and organizational infrastructure are aligned, efficient, and designed to support long-term growth, compliance, and mission impact.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and senior leadership on workforce planning, organizational structure, and talent strategy. 
  • Lead the development and implementation of HR systems, policies, and practices that support compliance and organizational effectiveness. 
  • Strengthening organizational culture through leadership development, employee engagement, and performance management strategies. 
  • Oversee full-cycle HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, retention, employee relations, training and development, compensation, and benefits administration. 
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. 
  • Support leadership in training, coaching, conflict resolution, and employee engagement initiatives. 
 Executive Operations & Organizational Effectiveness
  • Partner with senior leadership to design and implement operational strategies, organizational priorities, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate internal systems, workflows, and processes; identify inefficiencies; and implement solutions that improve effectiveness and accountability. 
  • Support the CEO in managing cross-functional priorities, resolving operational issues, and ensuring execution of key initiatives. 
  • Lead or support special projects, organizational reporting, and executive-level initiatives. 
Performance Management, Reporting & Compliance
  • Develop and maintain systems to track organizational performance, Key Performance Indicators, and strategic outcomes. 
  • Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable statutes, regulations, funding requirements, and reporting obligations. 
  • Conduct regulatory review, risk assessment, and due diligence to support organizational integrity and accountability. 
  • Maintain services and operations in accordance with required governance standards.
Administration & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Program, and Finance teams to ensure alignment and effective service delivery. 
  • Interpret and provide guidance on organizational policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements related to human resource operations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all employees, clients, and organizational information. 
Qualifications 

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred). 
  • 7–10+ years of progressive HR and operations leadership experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance frameworks, and human resources best practices. 
  • Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, or public sector environments strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational systems, manage cross-functional initiatives, and advise executive leadership. 
  • Strong analytical, communication, and change management skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Location
This position requires residency within the state of Texas or a willingness to relocate to Texas; however, Every Body Texas does not offer relocation assistance. 
Travel
The Human Resources Director can anticipate traveling within Texas to four in-person staff meetings annually and two in-person board meetings annually. Other travel will be required throughout Texas for meetings and events on an as-needed basis, with occasional travel required outside of the region.
