Job description

CTG is seeking to fill a Managing Director, Human Resources position for our client.

Location: Buffalo, NY (Hybrid Remote)

HR Governance & Compliance

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR and benefits policies, programs, and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain HR governance frameworks that support consistent policy application, operational efficiency, and audit readiness across the organization.
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and proactively adapt HR policies and practices to mitigate organizational risk and support business continuity.

Employee Relations & Workplace Strategy

  • Design and lead employee relations strategies and programs that foster a compliant, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, performance concerns, and conflict resolution.
  • Partner with organizational leadership to address workplace issues, improve employee engagement, and promote accountability and professionalism throughout the organization.

Executive Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Participate in enterprise strategic planning initiatives, aligning Human Resources priorities with organizational objectives and long-term business goals.
  • Contribute to organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and change management initiatives that support operational effectiveness and growth.
  • Provide strategic insight and recommendations to executive leadership regarding workforce trends, organizational effectiveness, and HR best practices.

Executive Advisory & Employee Lifecycle Guidance

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on employee relations, performance management, organizational restructuring, investigations, and employment law matters.
  • Guide leaders throughout the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and separation processes.
  • Ensure HR practices support sound decision-making, employee engagement, and risk mitigation.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Provide leadership and oversight for Human Resources recruiting activities to ensure alignment with workforce planning objectives and business priorities.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop and execute strategic hiring initiatives and talent acquisition plans.
  • Ensure recruiting and hiring practices comply with employment laws, internal policies, and equitable hiring standards.

Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Human Resources principles, employment law, compliance practices, and employee relations strategies.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and advise executive leadership on complex HR and organizational matters.
  • Excellent conflict resolution, investigation, and performance management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound business judgment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop teams across multiple locations and remote environments.
  • Proficiency with HR systems, workforce planning, and organizational development initiatives.

Experience:

  • 12+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including senior leadership responsibilities with broad organizational oversight.
  • Extensive experience managing complex employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and organizational change initiatives.
  • Proven expertise across core HR disciplines, including compliance, employee relations, compensation, workforce planning, and talent acquisition.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with executive leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed and remote teams in multi-location environments.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree and/or HR certifications such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $130,000 to $170,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
