Remote History Internships information

What is a remote history internship?

Remote history internships are internship opportunities in the field of history that can be completed online rather than in person. These internships allow students or recent graduates to gain experience working with museums, archives, historical societies, research organizations, or educational institutions from any location. Typical tasks may include conducting historical research, digitizing archives, assisting with virtual exhibits, or supporting educational outreach. Remote history internships are ideal for those seeking flexibility or who are unable to relocate for in-person positions.

What do remote history interns do?

Remote history interns often engage in tasks such as archival research, digital cataloging, transcription of historical documents, and assisting with the creation of online exhibits or educational content. Collaboration typically occurs through regular video meetings, email updates, and shared project management platforms, allowing interns to receive feedback and guidance from supervisors and communicate with other team members. Interns may also participate in virtual seminars or discussion boards to further their learning and network with peers in the field.

What skills and qualifications are needed for a remote history internship?

To excel as a Remote History Intern, you generally need strong research abilities, academic knowledge in history, and attention to detail, often supported by progress toward a degree in history or a related field. Familiarity with digital archives, citation management tools, and collaboration platforms like Google Workspace or Zoom is frequently required. Excellent written communication, time management, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for this remote position. These skills enable effective independent research, clear presentation of findings, and productive remote collaboration, which are essential for success in virtual internship settings.

Position Overview

Are you an aspiring engineer ready to power the next generation of energy infrastructure? We are seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our high-performing team in Raleigh. In this role, you will move beyond theoretical concepts to architect the critical systems that keep communities connected. You are not just a designer; you are a technical navigator responsible for the precision, safety, and innovation of complex power substation and distribution projects.

Joining our team means immersing yourself in a culture of mentorship and engineering excellence. We provide the platform for early-career professionals to transition from foundational knowledge to technical mastery through hands-on involvement in high-voltage utility projects. Here, your contributions have a visible, lasting impact on the reliability of the power grid, supported by a firm that treats your professional trajectory as a priority investment.

Core Responsibilities

  • System Architecture & Design: Architect detailed electrical plans, technical specifications, and comprehensive inspection reports that translate complex engineering concepts into buildable reality.

  • Substation Engineering: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop sophisticated substation physical layouts, construction drawings, and protection/control schemes.

  • Technical Stewardship: Provide strategic direction to designers and CAD operators to ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards of technical accuracy and project requirements.

  • Project Integration: Coordinate essential project logistics, including material procurement lists and labor contract oversight, to ensure seamless execution from concept to commissioning.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a technical liaison between the firm, vendors, and clients to streamline workflows and enhance overall project efficiency.

  • Field & Commissioning Mastery: Engage in hands-on technical development involving relay programming, protection settings, and substation commissioning to ensure system integrity.

  • Digital Documentation: Utilize advanced reporting tools and the Microsoft Office Suite to maintain rigorous project documentation and technical communication standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience within an electrical engineering or utility consulting environment (New Graduates with relevant internships are encouraged to apply).

  • Licensure: Active Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and a foundational understanding of CAD environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Software Acumen: Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or specialized electrical modeling software (e.g., SKM, ETAP).

  • Industry Knowledge: Previous exposure to power delivery, high-voltage systems, or utility-scale renewable energy projects.

  • Professional Drive: A proactive mindset with a clear desire to pursue Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
