Web Design & Digital Media - Adjunct (Online/Remote)
Position Summary
California Baptist University, an evangelical Christian university affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention, invites applications for the following position: Web Design & Digital Media - Adjunct (Online/Remote) in the College of Architecture, Visual Arts, and Design (CAVAD). Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University and evidence a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service through the integration of the Christian faith and learning.
Pay Range
Qualifications
A terminal degree in the field, or closely related discipline, is preferred. Candidates working toward a terminal degree, or who have significant experience in the field, may be considered. Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University, and evidence a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching through the integration of Christian faith. Successful candidates will have a history of quality University teaching experience and demonstrated relational skills.
Strong candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications specific to web design instruction:
  • Experience teaching in a Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) or comparable higher-education LMS environment.
  • Teaching experience with fundamental HTML coding concepts, including structure, semantic markup, and basic styling integration.
  • Knowledge and instructional experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) such as WordPress and Shopify, including theme customization and content workflows.
  • A solid understanding of User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) principles, including layout, usability, accessibility, and responsive design best practices.

Teaching Responsibilities
Strong candidates will embrace and embody "active teaching" methods, including, but not limited to the following CBU online education requirements for instructors:
  • Creating weekly video or audio lectures embedded in each weekly module (CBU supports and equips faculty with access to Kaltura video content manager).
  • Creating at least 1x weekly agenda videos and/or descriptive written announcements to engage with and orient students to each week's agenda and/or assignments.
  • Constructive, personalized written comments/feedback on all graded assignments to identify strengths and areas for student improvement.
  • Adherence to the university "Regular Effective Contact" policy
  • Response to student inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Minor assignments to be graded within 3 days of the due date, and major assignments to be graded within 7 days of the due date.

This position is for online/remote adjunct teaching opportunities and does not require a local (Southern California) presence.
