Remote Healthcare Customer Service information

What are some common challenges faced by remote healthcare customer service representatives, and how can they be managed?

Remote healthcare customer service representatives often navigate challenges such as handling sensitive patient information securely, managing high call volumes, and addressing complex insurance or billing questions. Working from home can also mean less immediate support from colleagues or supervisors. To manage these challenges, it's important to stay up-to-date with HIPAA regulations, utilize available training resources, and maintain clear communication with your team via digital channels. Employers typically provide secure systems and regular opportunities for virtual team meetings to foster collaboration and ongoing support.

What is a remote healthcare customer service representative?

A remote healthcare customer service representative is a professional who assists patients, healthcare providers, and insurers with inquiries related to medical services, billing, insurance claims, and appointments, all while working from a remote location such as their home. They communicate primarily via phone, email, or chat to resolve issues, provide information, and ensure a positive experience for patients. These representatives are trained to handle sensitive medical information in accordance with privacy regulations like HIPAA, and they play a crucial role in supporting the administrative needs of healthcare organizations.

Job description

Director, Healthcare Growth
Location: Canada (Remote)

Build the Future of Healthcare Training

Healthcare is facing an unprecedented workforce challenge. Rising costs, staff shortages, burnout, and increasingly complex clinical environments demand new approaches to education and workforce enablement.

At Aequilibrium, we're building the next generation of healthcare learning using AI, Virtual Reality (VR), and immersive technologies. Our vision is to transform how healthcare professionals learnโ€”not by watching videos or sitting in classrooms, but by practicing realistic scenarios that build confidence, competence, and muscle memory.

We're looking for an entrepreneurial commercial leader to help bring this vision to market.

This is not an account management role. This is not an alliance management role. This is an opportunity to help build a new business.

About the Role

As Director, Healthcare Growth, you will be responsible for developing and executing AEQ's commercial strategy for our Healthcare Innovation business.

You will identify market opportunities, build relationships with healthcare leaders, create strategic partnerships, lead consultative sales engagements, and secure our first generation of lighthouse customers.

Working closely with our executive, product, design, and engineering teams, you will translate market needs into scalable solutions while helping define how AEQ grows its healthcare business.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will help shape strategy, but your primary responsibility is originating, developing, and closing new business opportunities.

What You'll DoBuild Our Healthcare Business
  • Develop and execute AEQ's healthcare go-to-market strategy.

  • Identify high-value market opportunities across hospitals, health authorities, universities, research institutions, and healthcare organizations.

  • Build and manage a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.

  • Secure lighthouse customers that establish market credibility.

  • Develop repeatable sales and market development playbooks.

Lead Consultative Sales
  • Lead executive discovery workshops.

  • Understand customer workflows, operational challenges, and workforce development priorities.

  • Shape tailored AI and VR solutions with AEQ's product and technical teams.

  • Develop business cases and ROI models.

  • Navigate complex procurement and stakeholder environments.

  • Negotiate and close strategic opportunities.

Build Strategic Relationships

Develop relationships with:

  • Health authorities

  • Hospitals

  • Academic medical centres

  • Universities

  • Clinical education leaders

  • Innovation teams

  • Government organizations

  • Healthcare associations

Develop partnerships that accelerate market access, credibility, and customer acquisition.

Influence Product Direction

Serve as the voice of the customer.

Collaborate with product, UX, engineering, and leadership to:

  • validate market opportunities

  • prioritize customer needs

  • refine product positioning

  • improve commercial offerings

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12 months you will:

  • Develop AEQ's healthcare GTM strategy.

  • Build a strong qualified pipeline.

  • Win our first generation of lighthouse healthcare customers.

  • Establish strategic partnerships that accelerate growth.

  • Help refine AEQ's healthcare product strategy based on market feedback.

  • Build a repeatable commercial playbook that can scale.

What We're Looking ForRequired
  • 8+ years of business development, enterprise sales, consulting, or commercial leadership experience.

  • Experience selling complex technology, software, consulting, or transformation services.

  • Demonstrated success developing new businessโ€”not simply managing existing accounts.

  • Experience selling into healthcare organizations or similarly regulated industries.

  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience leading consultative discovery with senior decision-makers.

  • Ability to navigate complex buying committees and long enterprise sales cycles.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and helping shape strategy.

Preferred

Experience with one or more of:

  • Digital Health

  • AI

  • VR/XR

  • Healthcare simulation

  • Learning technologies

  • Enterprise SaaS

  • Professional Services

  • HealthTech

  • Innovation programs

Experience working with:

  • Health authorities

  • Hospitals

  • Ministries of Health

  • Academic medical centres

  • Healthcare foundations

  • Healthcare innovation programs

You'll Thrive Here If...

You enjoy:

  • Building new markets rather than inheriting territories.

  • Creating opportunities instead of waiting for leads.

  • Solving customer problems through consultative selling.

  • Working directly with founders, designers, engineers, and customers.

  • Helping define strategy while remaining hands-on.

  • Operating in fast-moving environments where you can make a visible impact.

This Role Is Not For You If...

You prefer:

  • Managing existing accounts.

  • Selling highly standardized products.

  • Working within large corporate sales organizations with established playbooks.

  • Waiting for marketing-qualified leads rather than creating your own opportunities.

  • Highly structured environments with extensive support teams.

Why Join Aequilibrium?

At AEQ, you'll have the opportunity to help build something meaningful.

You'll work alongside experts in AI, design, engineering, and immersive technologies to transform how healthcare organizations educate and prepare their workforce.

Rather than joining an established sales organization, you'll play a key role in shaping how an entirely new healthcare business growsโ€”from defining the go-to-market strategy to winning customers and influencing product direction.

If you're excited about combining technology, innovation, and meaningful impact, we'd love to meet you.
