Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Territory: Southwest (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico)

Natera is a clinical genetic testing company specializing in non-invasive, cell-free DNA (cfDNA) testing. We are seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for our Oncology portfolio to primarily support Signatera, our personalized, tumor-informed minimal residual disease (MRD) test. In this field-based role, you will serve as a scientific expert responsible for engaging healthcare providers, sharing peer-reviewed clinical data, and delivering accurate information that proactively informs disease management.

The MSL operates with a high degree of ownership and urgency, delivering advanced genetic testing data that changes patient outcomes when timing and accuracy matter most. This role focuses on building strong scientific relationships, delivering clear and accurate clinical education, and bringing back actionable insights from the field to change the management of disease worldwide.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain scientific relationships with oncology healthcare providers and key opinion leaders (KOLs) within a defined territory.

  • Deliver accurate, balanced, and clinically relevant education on Natera's oncology molecular diagnostics and clinical data.

  • Execute against territory plans aligned to Medical Affairs priorities with speed and agility.

  • Identify and communicate field insights, including oncology treatment trends, unmet clinical needs, and competitive dynamics.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries in a timely, compliant, and scientifically rigorous manner.

  • Support execution of Medical Affairs initiatives, including advisory boards and medical education programs.

  • Maintain an expert understanding of oncology disease states, clinical data, and the evolving diagnostics landscape.

  • Collaborate across teams with commercial and clinical functions to ensure organizational alignment for patient care while maintaining absolute scientific integrity.

  • Ensure all field activities are strictly compliant with company policies and external healthcare regulations.

  • Support and coordinate clinical trial and research initiatives at academic institutions and regional study sites.

  • Maintain ownership of field execution by accurately tracking territory engagement and documenting actionable clinical insights.

  • Travel 60-70% across the territory for clinical engagement and conferences.

  • Adapt quickly to emerging scientific and clinical needs across the oncology portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced healthcare or scientific degree preferred (Ph.D., Pharm.D., M.D., D.N.P.), with a minimum of a Master's degree required.

  • Prior Medical Affairs or MSL experience in oncology or molecular diagnostics preferred.

  • Must reside within the assigned territory.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Technical expertise and the research ability to clearly explain complex genetic testing data and clinical products to oncology specialists.

  • Experience establishing strong, collaborative working relationships with internal teams and external customers.

  • Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining a strong team-oriented work ethic.

  • Thrive and execute without rigid structure, operating with a sense of urgency to solve problems and advance clinical adoption.

  • Use clear, straightforward language to communicate clinical evidence effectively without heavy jargon or corporate lingo.

  • Demonstrate flexibility and the capacity to adjust quickly to unexpected clinical tasks or strategy shifts.

  • High level of personal accountability, ownership, and sound scientific judgment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This is a remote, field-based position requiring daily use of a computer and the ability to travel extensively.

  • Duties require flexibility around scheduling to support evening or weekend clinical meetings when necessary.

  • Employees must complete required training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance, and security within the first 30 days of hire.

  • Must maintain current status on all Natera organizational training requirements.

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
