Job description

Responsibilities

The Master Patient Index (MPI) is a vital resource that links each patient to their demographic, clinical, and financial data. To ensure its accuracy, the MPI must maintain complete, timely, and unique patient identifiers. The EMPI Data Analyst is responsible for reviewing, validating, and maintaining data integrity across the MPI and the Catholic Health system. This includes reconciling and consolidating duplicate records, resolving overlays, and correcting demographic data through current encounters at our six facilities, physician practices and interface platforms that support interoperability.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Investigates, identifies and validates the accuracy of patient demographic information, assigning the appropriate medical record number/identifier in accordance with Health Information Management (HIM) guidelines.
  • Perform timely and accurate reconciliation of assigned work tasks to ensure data integrity of Protected Health Information (PHI) to access and securely share a patients' medical records electronically.
  • Provide support for special projects as assigned, including data cleanup initiatives and other department priorities.
  • Resolve duplicate records, overlays, and related data integrity issues across the continuum of care.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support effectiveness and efficiency of data integrity functions for our systems interoperability.
  • Reports identified trends to EMPI Data Integrity Manager.
Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in health information management, patient data integrity, or related roles within a healthcare setting.
  • Prior experience working with Epic EHR and familiarity with MPI or EMPI systems is highly preferred.

           

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree (AAS) in Health Information Management; eligibility to sit for the AHIMA RHIT exam preferred. Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of experience in medical records, practice management, patient access, or a similar healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, 21st Century Cures Act, Affordable Care Act (ACA), Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) Catholic Health healthcare policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential electronic protected health information (ePHI) with discretion and compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology.
  • Self-motivated and energetic, with a strong desire for continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Attention to detailed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement in data quality.

Pay RangeUSD $60,000.00 - USD $75,000.00 /Yr.Qualifications

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
