Job description

A Brief Overview
The Trauma Quality and Research Analyst is responsible for the monitoring compliance with ACS/ABA and State or other regulatory standards for trauma/Burn registry data of records meeting inclusion criteria. The Trauma/Burn Quality and Research Analyst will prepare statistical, and analytics reports as requested or required to ensure compliance with outlined standards. The Trauma/Burn Quality and Research Analyst should routinely review the metrics through extrapolation of appropriate and relevant data elements to identify areas for opportunity for improvement and support the Level 1 Trauma and ABA verified Center by functioning as the primary contact for plan of corrections for quality reporting issues with the State of Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas, National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB), American Burn Association or Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) benchmarking reports.
What you will do
  • Data Analyst: Analyze data for validity and compliance with outlined ACS/ABA and State requirements through routine extrapolation of trauma registry data elements relevant to the ACS/ABA and trauma leadership dashboard.
  • Coordinates and performs data analysis for Trauma Service Performance Improvement, Research/Grants, Injury Prevention, and administrative activities.
  • Interprets data, anticipates needs for additional data, and prepares high quality presentation graphs/reports. Ability to effectively present information to multiple disciplines.
  • Coordinates all trauma database related responsibilities during a trauma center designation/verification visit. Includes participation in RFP preparation, chart selection, and chart preparation.
  • Research Trauma Analyst: Maintain and coordinate a streamlined process for trauma/burn data report requests. Respond to data requests for research, internal, external, or compliance audits. Maintain an ACS/ABA dashboard for tracking and trending ACS/ABA metric compliance i.e., Non-Surgical Admits, Number of Exploratory Laparotomy and Screenings. Adhere to all regulatory requirements for release of information, HIPAA, and IRB research requests. Monitor and track information release of information and publications related to the trauma registry database. Prepare the data quality and use report for ACS/ABA site visits
  • Maintain and coordinate a streamlined process for trauma data report requests.
  • Respond to data requests for research, internal, external, or compliance audits
  • Confer and work collaboratively with medical/hospital staff, HIM department, EMS services, referring facilities and other external data sources in compliance with iRESPECT standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction to implement registry activities.
  • Functions as a regional, state and national resource in the management of a trauma/burn database and also participates in collaborative State projects. Maintain required CEUs for certifications annually.

  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing or Computer Science Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing or Computer Science Preferred
  • Certified Specialist Trauma Registry (CSTR) or Certification obtained within (1) year in position. within 1 Year Required
  • RHIA, RHIT Preferred
  • Valid RN Licensure Preferred
  • Minimum 4 years experience in DI Report Writer, trauma data base coding i.e., ICD-CM/PCS, AIS in ESO/DI V5 COLLECTOR Required
  • Prior knowledge in Health Information Management, Nursing or Computer Science (with healthcare experience) Required
  • Research experience, Soarian, Cerner, SIS experience, SQL, R or Python Preferred
