Summary
You will serve as a Preservationist with Fort Bowie National Historic Site, in Bowie, AZ.
The is a Career-Seasonal appointment. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work for approximately 11.5 months from mid-November - October in pay status, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year (half of the month of November).

Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare and paint surfaces, performs plumbing repairs, and performs carpentry and masonry work.
• Use a computer as a primary tool for sending and receiving messages, accessing Facility Management Software System (FMSS) work orders, seeking vendor information, and performing record keeping.
• Documents daily accomplishments on Facility Management Software System (FMSS) through the WORK Kiosk. Records work activity; management unit; work location; as well as labor, equipment, and materials used.
• Provide leadership for individual and group park volunteers on a variety of general labor projects.
• May serve as a member or officer on a park committee(s).

3. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
4. Use of measuring instruments
5. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc...(includes blueprint reading)
6. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
7. Knowledge of materials

Physical Demands: Duties require the incumbent to sit, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, crawl, work in uncomfortable positions, and walk over rough, uneven terrain. The incumbent wears protective clothing, gloves, face shields, and/or respirator that may be uncomfortable; and the incumbent works from ladders, scaffolds, and elevated platforms. The incumbent may be occasionally expected to lift and/or carry items up to and exceeding 50 pounds in weight.
Working Conditions: Work is both indoors and outdoors. Work outside may be subject to extreme weather conditions, with wind, rain, snow, and ice, in temperatures ranging from below 0 to over 100 degrees. Depending on the geography of the park unit assigned, work may take place at elevations ranging from sea level up to 10,000 feet. The incumbent is exposed to dust, noise, vibration, cuts, and abrasions from the use of tools and equipment, and may occasionally be exposed to hazardous materials that can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation and burns, as well as microbiological organisms and potentially hazardous wildlife. The incumbent is expected to wear personnel protective equipment as required and comply with all safety and occupational health requirements.
