Job description

THE ROLE:
NextGen America is seeking an innovative, creative and online-savvy Digital Media Associate to expand our online presence. They will play a vital role in engaging our existing audience and helping us reach new audiences through social media, email and web. We are looking for someone with an interest in progressive politics and civic engagement that can also tap into the online discourse to keep things culturally relevant.

This role will report to the Digital Director.
This is a fully remote position with no location requirement. We encourage candidates from all locations within the United States to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain real-time knowledge of current social trends, political developments, organizing best practices, and public policy news to create opportunities for digital engagement in line with NextGen America's messaging.
  • Serve as a lead for content across NextGen's social media program, drafting and curating content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads and YouTube.
  • Draft and schedule email content for NextGen's national audiences.
  • Design graphics for NextGen's social media and email platforms.
  • Record, edit and collaborate on short-form video intended for social media platforms.
  • Prepare digital toolkits, guidance, and messaging to share with NextGen's campus organizations.
  • Assist with producing reports on social media and email activity and metrics.
  • Track emerging trends in social media and digital storytelling and utilize them effectively.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • At least two years of digital communications, digital content creation or social media work for a political campaign, nonprofit advocacy group or similar mission-driven organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow online audiences through engaging content.
  • Exceptional writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to produce on-message content that attracts and engages NextGen's core audience.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt rapidly to evolving priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in graphic design and video editing tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
  • Consistent attention to detail.
  • Be a positive, unselfish team player who sets the tone for everyone to do their best work.

BONUS POINTS FOR:
  • Experience ideating, producing, and editing fun, engaging video content using Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Canva, etc.
  • Experience with content platforms such as Sprout Social, EveryAction, Hubspot, etc.
  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Sprout Social, Twitter Analytics, Facebook Analytics, etc.
  • Experience with in-person or digital organizing.

COMPENSATION: The base salary for this position is $62,400 - $72,000.
