Job description

At RapidScale, exceptional technology is powered by exceptional people. We deliver secure, reliable managed and advisory services across private, public, and hybrid clouds, helping organizations innovate, adapt, and grow. As an Elite Broadcom VMware VCSP Partner and top partner with AWS, Azure, and Google, our solutions focus on business outcomes with embedded cyber resiliency and AI to protect today and enable tomorrow backed by the strength of the Cox family of companies.

We are seeking a Software Development Lead to play a pivotal role in our Consulting & Professional Services team, focused on cloud-native development and software modernization. This position is extremely hands-on, providing technical oversight over delivery teams. The ideal candidate is passionate about emerging practices such as AI-assisted coding and eager to integrate these tools into modern development workflows. You will engage directly with clients, translating complex technical requirements into actionable specifications and designs, while also rolling up your sleeves to write code and accelerate delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead end-to-end technical execution across several projects from initial prototype through to dependable production deployment.
  • Design and develop full-stack solutions that deliver measurable customer value and improve how our teams learn and iterate.
  • Work hands-on with customer teams to understand their workflows, shape requirements, and ensure effective adoption of delivered capabilities.
  • Define project scope, plan milestones, and proactively clear blockers to maintain delivery momentum.
  • Balance speed, quality, and scope—making thoughtful trade-offs to keep delivery outcomes on track.
  • Step into the codebase when needed to accelerate progress or clarify technical direction.
  • Capture effective patterns and practices in reusable tools, templates, or frameworks for broader team use.
  • Maintain team momentum through clear direction, consistent follow-up, and strong execution discipline.
  • Actively leverage AI-assisted coding tools to improve developer velocity, quality, and innovation.

What You Bring:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of software engineering/development experience (or equivalent).
  • 3+ years working as a technical lead or architect in cloud-native or modernization initiatives.
  • Hands-on expertise with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Proficiency in at least two programming languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Go, Java, C#).
  • Experience transforming legacy applications (Java, .NET, etc.) into cloud-native microservices.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices design patterns.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills, with experience delivering technical presentations and engaging with business/technical stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of Agile development methodologies and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Kiro OpenCode, or equivalent).
  • Professional services or consulting experience, including direct client delivery.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX collaboration and integration into architecture.
  • Experience working with global or distributed engineering teams.
