Job Title: Systems Safety Engineer (CAFTA)

Job Summary
Honeywell is seeking an experienced Systems Safety Engineer to support the development, analysis, and certification of aerospace systems. This is a 100% remote position requiring expertise in system safety assessments and CAFTA (Computer-Aided Fault Tree Analysis). The ideal candidate will have experience performing safety analyses for complex aerospace systems and working within certification and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform system safety analyses in accordance with aerospace industry standards.
- Develop and maintain safety artifacts, including:
- Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA)
- Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA)
- System Safety Assessments (SSA)
- Fault Tree Analyses (FTA)
- Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA)
- Common Cause Analyses (CCA)
- Use CAFTA to develop, analyze, and maintain fault tree models.
- Support compliance with ARP4761, ARP4754A, and DO-178/DO-254 safety processes where applicable.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, and certification engineering teams to resolve safety issues.
- Review system architectures and identify potential hazards and mitigation strategies.
- Support customer and certification authority reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace systems safety engineering.
- Hands-on experience using CAFTA (Computer-Aided Fault Tree Analysis) is required.
- Experience performing FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMEA, and CCA.
- Strong knowledge of ARP4761 and ARP4754A safety assessment processes.
- Experience supporting aerospace or avionics development programs.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting FAA or military aircraft certification programs.
- Familiarity with DO-178C and DO-254.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) or SysML.
- Previous experience supporting aerospace OEMs or suppliers.
