Job Title: Systems Safety Engineer (CAFTA)
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Contract


Job Summary

Honeywell is seeking an experienced Systems Safety Engineer to support the development, analysis, and certification of aerospace systems. This is a 100% remote position requiring expertise in system safety assessments and CAFTA (Computer-Aided Fault Tree Analysis). The ideal candidate will have experience performing safety analyses for complex aerospace systems and working within certification and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Perform system safety analyses in accordance with aerospace industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain safety artifacts, including:
    • Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA)
    • Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA)
    • System Safety Assessments (SSA)
    • Fault Tree Analyses (FTA)
    • Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA)
    • Common Cause Analyses (CCA)
  • Use CAFTA to develop, analyze, and maintain fault tree models.
  • Support compliance with ARP4761, ARP4754A, and DO-178/DO-254 safety processes where applicable.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, and certification engineering teams to resolve safety issues.
  • Review system architectures and identify potential hazards and mitigation strategies.
  • Support customer and certification authority reviews.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace systems safety engineering.
  • Hands-on experience using CAFTA (Computer-Aided Fault Tree Analysis) is required.
  • Experience performing FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMEA, and CCA.
  • Strong knowledge of ARP4761 and ARP4754A safety assessment processes.
  • Experience supporting aerospace or avionics development programs.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting FAA or military aircraft certification programs.
  • Familiarity with DO-178C and DO-254.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) or SysML.
  • Previous experience supporting aerospace OEMs or suppliers.
