Job description

We are seeking a GIS Technician to support the design, construction, and tracking of telecommunications infrastructure projects. This role focuses on managing and maintaining geospatial data, producing accurate mapping deliverables, and supporting field and engineering teams using the Esri platform and related tools. This is a remote position based in the US; applicants must reside and be authorized to work in the United States.
What You Will Do:
  • Support data and mapping needs required to design, construct, identify, deploy and track telecommunications infrastructure and services.
  • Operate GIS hardware and software systems, including ArcPro, ArcGIS 10.8.x, ArcGIS Online, AutoCAD, Katapult Software, customer specific Fiber Management software such as Schneider Electric ArcFM or 3-GIS, Microsoft Office, computers, plotters and data collection devices.
  • Gather, create, edit, and integrate geospatial data and associated attribute information in geodatabase formats including Shapefiles, KMZ's, and file geodatabases.
  • Assist in publishing/converting information to ArcGIS Services and external sources including AutoCAD, Google Earth, Excel, Mobile platforms & GIS mapping portals.
  • Georeference/digitize GIS data, identify and correct errors introduced when merging data sets from multiple sources.
  • Find and use freely available resources to gather GIS and related data files and to investigate potential data corrections and updates.
  • Process and support field data collected with the ESRI App Suite (Collector, Field Maps)
  • Document and maintain records on data processing procedures.
  • Create and maintain innovative web maps and mapping portals using ArcGIS Online and legacy systems.

What You Will Need:
  • 2+ years of GIS experience (collegiate + public/private industry experience)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science or related field
  • Possess interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively work within multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Ability to prioritize, adapt and meet deadlines, must be able to work independently
  • Strong written/oral communication skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience publishing with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS
  • Overall proficiency in the use of Esri platform and app suite.
  • Knowledge of current ArcGIS systems (ArcGIS 10.8.x, ArcPro 3.x, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access) will be required to accomplish your role successfully. Knowledge of and experience with other GIS and CAD software (including open source software), Trimble software and hardware, AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, SQL Server, Visual Basic, Python, HTML or other programming languages and of web and database design, development and maintenance are highly desirable.

Work Environment
Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work.
Expected compensation includes $50,000 to $56,000 as an annual salary and benefits including medical, vision, and dental benefits, and 401k retirement plan, available for eligible employees. Compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as an individual's education, training, experience, skills, geographic location, seniority, merit, and other factors that are job related and consistent with business need.
