Position Description

The City of Bothell is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Employee and Technology Services Department's GIS Division as a GIS Specialist. This GIS Specialist will work collaboratively with the GIS Team and supports multiple divisions and departments while demonstrating clear communication and maintaining positive and professional interactions. The position is responsible for providing specialized, advanced spatial data and analytics, enterprise system design, data maintenance and technical guidance utilizing various technologies and platforms.
Recruitment information: First review will take place on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 5:00 pm.
Default schedule will be the following: 5/8's Mon - Fri flexible with start time. This role will be onsite for up to the first four months, with opportunities to work a hybrid schedule thereafter.
What will you do in this position?
  • Works in the GIS Services Division supporting all City Departments including, Public Works, Community Development, Executive, Parks, Fire and Police.
  • Works as a project lead for significant projects, member of a team, or independently in the design, development and recommendation of critical enterprise GIS business systems and needs. This includes project management, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and upgrade support.
  • Researches, configures, supports and deploys custom tools and web GIS applications, templates and maps, mobile solutions, maps, data modeling. These may include applications such as dashboards, web apps, or storymaps.
  • Performs advanced data statistics and analytics including spatial, geo-statistical, or complex business analysis of data themes to make better business decisions.
  • Leverage a variety of technologies including but not limited to Esri enterprise products and tools such as ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Server, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Performs expert data management including geodatabase design, data maintenance, workflow development, database optimization, user accounts, versioning, and replication, data quality control and integrity, metadata development, production database automation, and database administration to ensure production efficiency and supported server environment.

  • Show highly analytical and complex problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Communicate clearly and maintain positive interactions to build trust within the GIS Division and across departments, with stakeholders, vendors, and staff at all levels.
  • Be flexible in the ability to support a variety of City GIS needs in a modern and growing GIS environment.
