Job description

Salary: 20 hourly

Job Summary: We are seeking a hardworking and dependable General Laborer to join our rooftop solar team. As part of our crew, you will assist in the safe and efficient installation of solar panels and related equipment on commercial rooftops. This position offers an opportunity to work in a growing, sustainable industry with a focus on renewable energy and environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation Assistance:

  • Racking Assembly: Assembling and positioning racking systems that will hold the solar panels.
  • Panel Handling: Carrying and positioning solar panels on the racking systems, often working closely with installers.
  • Mounting Panels: Assisting in securing solar panels to the racking systems using clamps or screws.

Electrical Support:

  • Running Conduit: Helping electricians install conduits for wiring.
  • Wiring Assistance: Assisting with pulling wires and making connections under the guidance of electricians or qualified personnel.

General Labor:

  • Material Movement: Transporting tools, equipment, and materials across the rooftop or between storage and the worksite.
  • Cleaning Up: Ensuring the site is clean and organized by disposing of waste materials and packing up tools at the end of the day.
  • Tool Management: Keeping track of tools and ensuring they are available for other team members.

Preparation Work:

  • Site Preparation: Clearing debris, cleaning the rooftop, and preparing the site for installation.
  • Unloading Materials: Assisting with unloading solar panels, racking systems, tools, and other equipment from delivery vehicles.
  • Setting Up Safety Measures: Installing guardrails, tie-off points, or other fall protection systems to ensure workplace safety.

Maintenance and Safety:

  • Inspecting Materials: Checking for damage to panels, racking, or other components before installation.
  • Monitoring Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and reporting any hazards or issues to supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Prior commercial solar experience REQUIRED.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), work on rooftops, and perform tasks in various weather conditions.
