Enterprise Architect and Engagement Lead:
Base Job Description
The Enterprise Architect will serve as the day-to-day lead of the current state assessment of GB Nexus architecture, mapping platform capabilities against enterprise data strategy needs, leveraging a background in architecture, DataOps and metadata governance experience.
Role is to lead a strategy team tasked refining the building / maintaining / population of centralized GB's Nexus Data Hub to make it easier to operate, easier to extend existing data sources and data feeds, and adding the capability to scale in the cloud. This effort critically is about the design / governance / process of treating & managing data to gain scale of this data asset.
This individual is responsible for assembling and leading internal and external expertise and building a clear case for change but doing so under a tight timeframe.
Expectations
Need to be a self-starter with comfort for ambiguity. Needs to work well in an environment that at times can lack structure - individual needs to be comfortable creating the structure for their work as well as delivering it
Some level of insurance background strongly preferred - ideally with background in Claims / Claims Management and Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance Lines
While the role is remote, there will be a significant amount of interaction daily through Teleconferencing. In addition, US-based is strongly required, to have the ability to travel to Chicago / home office with some frequency
Flexibility to consistently work CT / ET time zones, but also at times support Australia / UK meeting times
Required cultural fit with Gallagher Bassett - mid-west / family-owned business culture where work needs to be driven & delivered but through a type B mindset
Significant role will be to mentor / collaborate with internal FTEs - success is raising the game of the entire team. The team is diverse in most ways, with many of the resources residing in Chicago, but also globally
Must be able / willing to collaborate with a remote team - work independently / dependently at the same time.
Key Skills
Technical
Generic but deep Strategic Architecture background - with the ability to implement said strategy for large corporations
Current and future state strategic roadmap development, with demonstrated ability to create detailed three-year roadmaps
Experience with implementation and management of global data infrastructure that has the capability to selectively centralize information
Strong proficiency in Python design / engineering as well as SQL, to quickly understand how the current state environment is constructed
Design / implementation experience with cloud / hosted environments such as Snowflake and Azure
Experience preferred building real-time systems with high availability
Others
Excellent communication skills - the ability to work with a wide range of executives as well as team members with varying degrees of experience / technical sophistication. Strong written communication abilities with the ability to build compelling PowerPoint-based executive messages independently.
Ability to work well with other highly intelligent / diverse architects - this is not merely a development role - it's expected to be a leadership and collaboration role with other peers of a similar position who are already staffed on the team
Inquisitive and curious disposition to find and solve problems
Experience with Lucid and/or other Arch Documentation Tools
