Job description

Job Summary

The Lead Graphic Designer, Digital Marketing is a senior individual contributor who elevates the quality and consistency of digital marketing design across the team. This role does not carry direct management responsibilities — there are no direct reports, performance reviews, or hiring duties attached to it.

What sets this role apart is scope and influence. The Graphic Design Lead owns the most complex digital marketing projects, sets the art direction standard for the channel, mentors peer designers, and represents the Design team in cross-functional conversations with Marketing and channel partners. This person leads through example, expertise, and initiative — not title.

This person thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and brings both strong design craft and an understanding of how digital assets perform across platforms.

Responsibilities

Brand Campaign & Art Direction

  • Concept and develop big-idea brand campaigns three times throughout the year
  • Lead the team through the execution of each campaign idea across all channels
  • Set the art direction standard for campaigns and digital assets, reviewing peer work at key stages with clear, actionable feedback
  • Apply and uphold brand guidelines across all digital touchpoints
  • Ensure visual consistency across campaigns, channels, and asset types
  • Contribute to the evolution of digital design standards and templates

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Email Marketing, Paid Media, and Content teams to deliver assets on deadline
  • Collaborate with copywriters to ensure cohesive visual and messaging alignment
  • Translate campaign briefs and marketing objectives into clear art direction for the design team
  • Present concepts and gather feedback from stakeholders efficiently
  • Represent the Design team in cross-functional campaign planning meetings and advocate for quality and realistic production timelines

Digital Asset Production

  • Design and produce high-volume digital assets including brand campaigns, email campaigns, web banner ads, homepage banners, landing pages, and video graphics
  • Build and maintain scalable email templates that perform across devices and email clients
  • Create static and animated web banner ads sized for various placements and platforms
  • Design homepage and promotional banners that balance brand aesthetics with conversion goals
  • Produce landing page layouts optimized for user experience and campaign performance
  • Develop motion graphics and video graphic assets for digital advertising and social channels

Informal Mentorship & Peer Development

  • Act as the go-to resource for designers on digital best practices, platform specs, and art direction questions
  • Share knowledge proactively through desk reviews, design critiques, and documentation of digital standards
  • Help peer designers strengthen their craft in areas specific to digital marketing — motion graphics, responsive design, and conversion-focused layout
  • Model a high standard of digital design quality and channel expertise for the broader team

Process & File Management

  • Manage organized, production-ready files and asset libraries
  • Follow and enforce naming conventions, versioning, and handoff processes across the team
  • Identify opportunities to templatize recurring asset types to improve team efficiency
  • Keep the team current on evolving platform requirements, digital design trends, and emerging tools
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed while sitting/standing and interfacing with a personal computer.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50lbs.
Remote Work Qualifications
  • Access to a reliable and secure high-speed internet connection. Cable or fiber internet connections (at least 75mbps download/10mbps upload) are preferred, as satellite connections often cannot support the technologies used to perform day-to-day tasks.
  • Access to a home router and modem.
  • A dedicated home office space that is noise- and distraction-free. The space should have strong wireless connection or a wired Ethernet connection (wired connection is preferred, if possible).
  • A valid, physical address (apartment, suite, etc.). PO Boxes are not supported, as a physical address is required for you to receive your computer equipment.
  • The desire and ability to work and communicate with other team members via chat, webcam, etc.
  • Legal residents of one of the following states: (AK, AL, AR, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WI, WV, or WY). H-1B Visa Sponsorship Not Available, W2 only.
Experience

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of graphic design experience with a strong focus on digital marketing design
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
  • Deep experience designing across email, web banners, homepage banners, landing pages, and video/motion graphics
  • Proven ability to concept and lead the execution of big-idea brand campaigns across channels
  • Strong working knowledge of digital platform specifications, file formats, and asset optimization
  • Proven ability to set art direction and give constructive design feedback that improves peers' work
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS email design
  • Familiarity with web design principles, UX considerations, and conversion-focused design
  • Strong communication skills — able to influence without authority and build alignment across Marketing and Design teams
  • High initiative and accountability: identifies what needs to be done and does it without being asked
  • Experience in e-commerce or retail environments preferred
