Overview
The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)* is recruiting a Donor Experience Officer (DXO) to join the Donor Experience Officer team. In this role, you will secure leadership annual gifts and qualify prospects for major and planned giving. The team leverages digital-first fundraising tools and strategies, personalized outreach at-scale, momentous giving days, and video storytelling to build relationships with current and prospective donors. As energetic, passionate, and digital-first fundraisers, DXOs engage donors with their passions through video, phone, and meaningful connections, digital and otherwise. DXOs work with donors to align their desired philanthropic impact with opportunities to transform student and patient experiences, elevate the work of faculty and researchers, and advance priorities across UW-Madison and UW Health.
This position is a hybrid role and will require you to work in the office at least two days weekly.
Please Note: We can hire this position as an Assistant Director, Donor Experience Officer -OR- as an Associate Director, Donor Experience Officer, depending on the skills and experience of the selected candidate.

Essential Functions
Fund Raising and Development
  • Execute digital-first strategies and scale personalized outreach to assigned constituents, managing a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors and major or planned gift prospects in varying stages of involvement to advance them strategically through the development process
  • Plan and conduct ongoing outreach and engagement opportunities to build relationships with donors, effectively presenting the case for philanthropic support and explaining gift opportunities
  • Develop and present leadership annual gift and major gift opportunities, utilizing current and planned gift opportunities that align donor interest and institutional priorities
  • Artfully ask for the right gift, at the right time, in the right way

Donor Relations and Stewardship
  • Collaborate with WFAA colleagues to discuss donor prospects, share and receive advice and information, and coordinate activities on shared prospects and donors
  • Plan and execute recognition for donors and their giving, including personalized thank-you videos, phone calls, letters and cards, etc.
  • Plan and execute ongoing communication and stewardship with donors
  • Manage data related to donor activity responsibly and in accordance with organizational policies and best-practices

Qualifications
Assistant Director, Donor Experience Officer
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional work experience
  • 1+ years of experience and demonstrated success in annual giving, marketing, donor relations, stewardship, or a related area
  • Openness to developing proficiency in Excel and responsible, effective data management
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Associate Director, Donor Experience Officer
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional work experience
  • 3+ years of experience and demonstrated success in annual giving, marketing, donor relations, stewardship, or a related area
  • 1+ years of experience and demonstrated success in front-line fundraising/development, sales, or a related area
  • Proficiency in Excel and responsible, effective data management
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills

Other Qualifications:
  • Appreciation of the vital role played by UW-Madison and UW Health and an interest in promoting its programs as well as an ability to work with WFAA leadership, colleagues, and donors and prospective donors
  • Ability to articulate the case for private support with sufficient effectiveness so that individuals understand the vision and priorities of UW-Madison and UW Health and choose to make a philanthropic investment
  • Creative approach to execute digital-first strategies to scale personalized outreach to leadership annual giving donors and prospective major and planned gift donors
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of an effective team
