As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Conducting culturally sensitive and strength-based assessments for new patients and their families to identify their unique mental health needs.
• Providing individual and family therapy tailored to the identified therapeutic goals and concerns, utilizing evidence-based methods.
• Managing documentation processes, including billing, treatment plans, and insurance authorization forms, ensuring timeliness in compliance with established guidelines.
• Developing crisis plans, safety plans, and relapse prevention strategies to support clients in maintaining stability in their lives.
• Creating comprehensive discharge plans to facilitate smooth transitions and continued support post-treatment.
• Adhering to all applicable federal and state laws and regulatory standards, as well as organizational policies.
• Staying current with best practices through ongoing training and professional development.
• Active participation in case consultations and agency meetings to maintain a high standard of care.
• Completing all necessary licensure and mandatory training to ensure compliance with state regulations.

Your work will primarily focus on serving individuals and families from diverse backgrounds experiencing a broad spectrum of mental health challenges. As such, cultural competence and a genuine commitment to understanding the unique experiences and needs of each client are essential. You will be pivotal in helping clients navigate their therapeutic journeys and empowering them towards recovery and improved mental health outcomes.

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field, which is essential for obtaining licensure.
• Current licensure as a Mental Health Therapist (e.g., LCPC, LMFT, LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland.

While not essential, the following experiences are preferred:

• Previous work in community health settings or experience serving underserved populations.
• Familiarity with telehealth platforms and virtual therapy methodologies.
• Training in trauma-informed care or evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
