Summary
Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is located at the Cliffside RV Park aboard NAS Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, WA.

Duties
Help
Performs one or more of the following duties:
  • Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc. Moves heavy boxes or cartons by hand, hand-truck, or dolly. Opens crates and boxes using crowbars and cuts bands using shears. Stacks boxes and cartons where directed.
  • Using a shovel, digs ditches where grading and sloping is not required. Fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
  • Runs hand and powered lawnmowers which do not require very heavy physical effort.
  • Clears small trees and bushes using hatchet, handsaw, or clipper.
  • Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as directed.
  • May shovel snow sand or dirt from sidewalks.
  • Collects and empties garbage cans, burns garbage and trash.
  • Washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or using powered buffer.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Must complete I-9 Verification upon hire.
  • Must be at least 18 years at time of application and have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • May be required to workdays, evenings, weekends, holidays to meet the needs of the program. Subject to premium pay for Sunday, second and third shift, and holiday pay when hours worked are during those times.
  • Outdoor work is performed in all kinds of weather. May be required to wear issued protective gear such as safety gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, boots, etc.
  • Work indoors may expose the worker to drafts, noise, dust and dirt, and require standing on concrete floors for long periods. Special care is required to avoid serious injuries. Outdoor work is performed in all kinds of weather
  • Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRNW Installations. (review required documents section for more information.)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance

Qualifications
A qualified candidate possesses the following:
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to run lawnmowers and use hand buffers, hatchets, saws, hand and other tools requiring the same level of knowledge and skill.
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs, follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work safely while moving light to heavy weight objects.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
