Job Description and Where You Fit In

The Finance Director for GreenCore Biofuels is a critical business role with the individual responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring robust financial governance, supporting commercial and operational decision-making, and serving as the primary liaison between the business and the centralized back-office accounting function. The role extends beyond traditional financial reporting to include commodity market analysis, environmental credit management, project finance, and business performance optimization.

Within the GreenCore Biofuels portfolio, the Finance Director is viewed as the organization's financial steward of the business, where value creation depends on understanding how natural gas markets, feedstock costs, environmental credits, and carbon policies interact. By integrating market intelligence into forecasting, capital allocation, contract negotiations, and risk management, the Finance Director helps transform market volatility into a source of competitive advantage and long-term shareholder value.

Success for the Finance Director role is measured not only by accurate financial reporting, but also by the ability to convert plant operations, feedstock strategy, and environmental credit markets into improved cash flow, profitability, and long-term enterprise value while ensuring seamless coordination with the back-office accounting function.

What You’ll Be Doing

Key accountabilities include:

A. Business Performance Management: Monitor profitability by facility, product, feedstock stream, and revenue source; Analyze production costs and recommend cost optimization initiatives; Evaluate feedstock economics and transportation costs; Monitor operating margins and cash generation; Provide financial insights to improve plant efficiency and asset utilization; Support continuous improvement initiatives through financial analysis.


B. Operational Finance: Develop and maintain cost accounting systems for plant operations; Monitor production costs per unit of RNG produced; Analyze maintenance, labor, utility, and logistics costs; Evaluate inventory valuation and feedstock utilization; Recommend cost reduction initiatives without compromising operational reliability; Support procurement through financial analysis of major contracts.

C. Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the annual budgeting process and multi-year business planning; Develop rolling forecasts and cash flow projections; Analyze financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and strategic targets; Identify business risks and opportunities through variance analysis; Prepare financial models to support investment decisions and operational improvements; Establish key performance indicators and financial dashboards for executive management.

D. Strategic Value Creation: Develop and implement the company's financial strategy in alignment with corporate objectives; Provide financial leadership to the executive management team and Board of Directors; Evaluate strategic growth opportunities, acquisitions, partnerships, and capital investments; Lead long-term financial planning and enterprise value creation initiatives; Conduct scenario analysis and financial modeling for changes in feedstock markets, RNG pricing, environmental credits, and regulatory frameworks; Support the development and execution of corporate strategy through financial analysis and performance measurement.

E. Financial Reporting & Governance through interface with back-office accounting team: As the business owner of financial information, the Finance Director is accountable for financial close (ensuring timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports), accounting oversight, accounts payable and receivable; Review management reporting packages prior to executive distribution; Oversee statutory financial reporting requirements; Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and corporate policies; Support Board reporting through preparation of financial analyses and presentations; Maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks; audit coordination, ERP and financial systems.

F. Commercial & Revenue Management: Support negotiation and evaluation of RNG sales agreements; Analyze pricing mechanisms for natural gas and environmental attributes; Monitor revenues from RNG sales, Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs), Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) credits, Carbon Offsetting, and other environmental programs where applicable; Evaluate feedstock supply contracts and tipping fee agreements; Assess market risks and recommend hedging strategies.

G. Treasury & Cash Management: Manage corporate liquidity and working capital; Oversee cash forecasting and financing requirements; Monitor debt facilities and covenant compliance; Optimize capital structure and borrowing costs; Manage banking relationships and treasury operations; Oversee foreign exchange and interest rate risk management where applicable.

What You Bring

The Finance Director role requires

Essential skills/knowledge in:

· Regulatory & tax knowledge: carbon accounting, carbon policies, renewable fuel regulations, production incentives

· Biofuels including RNG industry knowledge: Ability to understand margin drivers for a (biofuel) operational facility, production economics and operational KPIs and their financial impact for revenue optimisation

· Commodities and environmental credits markets: natural gas markets, RIN/LCFS/VCM markets, carbon intensity, and how they affect revenues and profitability

· Data and analytical skills: Leverages data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools to identify trends, measure performance, and support data-driven decision-making
