Job Description

AVP, Financial Operations - remote position

Crum & Forster is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Financial Operations to lead key finance and operational accounting activities supporting our commercial property & casualty and specialty insurance business. This role is responsible for overseeing financial operations, strengthening internal controls, supporting reporting accuracy, and driving process improvement across functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day financial operations, including accounting oversight, financial controls, reconciliations, and operational reporting
  • Support timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Partner with business, finance, treasury, underwriting, and shared services teams to improve financial workflows and issue resolution
  • Monitor financial processes to help ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards
  • Review financial data, identify trends or variances, and escalate key issues to senior finance leadership
  • Manage, mentor, and develop financial operations staff while promoting operational efficiency and accountability
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and control enhancements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial operations, insurance accounting, or finance leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, reporting processes, and accounting principles
  • Experience within the property & casualty insurance industry strongly preferred
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel skills preferred

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $111,100 to a maximum of $162,900. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
