Job description

We are hiring an AssociateDataEnablementEngineer II on the Financial Information Systems team at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee!

In this role, you will serve as a dedicated technical resource embedded within the finance domain, supporting Accounting, Finance, and Treasury. You'll primarily maintain and expand existing financialdataand analytics infrastructure, supportingdatapipelines, transformations, and curateddatalayers that power financialreporting and planning, with hands-on contribution in environments such asDatabricks and Cognos.

To be successful in this role, in addition to meeting the core job requirements, you'll bring experience working with SQL, Python, BI tools, and best practices for relationaldatabases. You'll be a strong candidate if you can blend business analysis anddataengineering skills-translating business and financial requirements into reliable, scalabledatasolutions. Experience enhancing ETL/ELT processes, performingdatavalidation and reconciliation, supporting semantic models, and partnering closely with business and technical stakeholders will help you succeed. Familiarity with IBM Planning & Analytics (TM1) is a plus, but not required.

  • This is a remote, work-from-home position, but the final round of interviews will take place on-site in our Chattanooga, TN office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports maintenance and enhancement of existing ETL/ELT data pipelines, transformations, and datasets using SQL, Python, and Databricks.
  • Contributes to updates of data models and curated data layers to improve reliability, consistency, and usability of established analytics assets.
  • Assists with development and maintenance of BI datasets, semantic models, and reports to support ongoing reporting and analysis needs.
  • Performs data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks within existing ETL/ELT processes to ensure accuracy of metrics and reporting outputs.
  • Translates defined business requests into structured technical requirements with guidance and implements enhancements in collaboration with business partners, IT, and AI teams.
  • Documents data logic, transformations, and metric definitions, including workflows within ETL/ELT pipelines, to support transparency and ongoing maintenance.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Equivalent experience is defined as 4 years of professional work experience in a corporate environment.

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in supporting data, analytics, or reporting solutions, including handson use of SQL, Python, and Databricks (or similar) to query, transform, and validate structured data.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT processes, supporting data pipelines, transformations, and data quality checks
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Cognos, Tableau, etc.) supporting development of semantic models and performance optimized reporting solutions.
  • Experience translating defined business requests into technical requirements with guidance and implementing enhancements to existing data and analytics solutions.

Skills/Certifications

  • Proficient in SQL and Python for data querying, transformation, and validation in an analytics environment.
  • Proficient in BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Cognos), including development or support of datasets, semantic models, and reporting outputs.
  • Working knowledge of Databricks or similar cloud analytics platforms, including building and maintaining data pipelines and scalable data workflows.
  • Working knowledge of relational database and data warehousing concepts, including data modeling fundamentals and structured data design.
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, including data pipelines, transformations, and data quality validation techniques.
