Responsibilities
• Interface with clients and meetings.
• Prepare legal documents such as motions, pleadings, memorandums, and correspondence for criminal cases.
• Manage all stages of a criminal case, from investigation through trial and sentencing.
• Demonstrate significant court experience in handling legal proceedings.
• Stay educated by participating in local, state, and national legal conferences.
• Effectively manage and meet case deadlines to ensure successful outcomes.
• Analyze, collaborate, and implement trial strategies to achieve client objectives.
• Attend trainings and continue to grow.
Qualifications
At least three years of criminal experience in the Federal or State system, or at least felony jury trials or equivalent experience.
• Experienced in all aspects of criminal law, including adult and juvenile cases, felony and misdemeanor charges, and pre-charge negotiation.
• Skilled in bond, risk assessment, mitigation, case strategy, motion practice, thorough discovery, trial proceedings, and sentencing advocacy.
• Required to attend Court appearances in Michigan.
• Admission to the Michigan State Bar is a must.
• Must be tech-friendly or willing to learn new technologies.
• Effective and clear communication skills are essential.
• Ability to track and meet minimum billable requirements.
• Excellent and creative writing skills are necessary.
• Strong belief in the Constitution and a commitment to advocating for clients daily.
