## Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation, DevOps, and compliance-focused environments. This role combines deep technical engineering responsibilities with team leadership, mentorship, and operational ownership within regulated cloud ecosystems.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience across AWS/Azure environments, Terraform automation, DevOps processes, and security/compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST, HIPAA, or HITRUST.
## Key Responsibilities
- Spend approximately 70% of time on hands-on engineering tasks including cloud deployments, infrastructure automation, scripting, and tooling development
- Allocate around 30% of time to technical leadership, mentoring engineers, managing escalations, and ensuring delivery quality
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical and operational issues
- Drive engineering quality standards, compliance adherence, and project milestone alignment
- Collaborate with architecture and consulting teams to identify and mitigate technical and compliance risks
- Coordinate day-to-day engineering activities, resource planning, and project execution timelines
- Own Jira processes end-to-end including backlog management, ticket creation, acceptance criteria, dependency mapping, and prioritization
- Lead sprint planning activities, dependency sequencing, and delivery readiness reviews
- Work closely with DevOps workflows including Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, policy-as-code, and change management practices
## Required Skills
- Strong technical expertise across AWS, Azure, networking, identity management (Entra ID, Intune, Defender), and security/compliance controls
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and cloud infrastructure automation
- Solid understanding of DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment orchestration
- Excellent communication, documentation, leadership, and client-facing skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities within compliance-sensitive environments
- Ability to balance hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities
## Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience implementing or supporting cloud-based solutions in AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven environments
- Proven success building automation scripts, tooling, and deployment frameworks
- Prior experience handling critical production escalations and high-severity incidents
- Experience mentoring engineering teams and driving technical delivery excellence
## Required Certifications
- Professional or Expert-level certification in AWS, Azure, or GCP
## Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FedRAMP, NIST, HIPAA, HITRUST, or DoD environments
- Familiarity with CIS Benchmarks and DISA STIG standards
- Experience with Ansible, GitLab/GitHub automation workflows
