Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Paralegal Team Lead (Removal) to oversee a team of paralegals handling removal defense cases. This role combines hands-on legal work with team leadership, ensuring high-quality case preparation, strict deadline compliance, and efficient workflow management.

You will be responsible for driving performance, maintaining legal accuracy, and scaling team productivity in a fast-paced, high-volume immigration environment.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Team Leadership & Oversight

  • Supervise, mentor, and support a team of removal paralegals

  • Review legal work (forms, declarations, filings) for accuracy and completeness before attorney review

  • Assign caseloads based on complexity, deadlines, and team capacity

  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex cases and client issues

Case Management & Legal Execution

  • Oversee the preparation and filing of removal defense cases and court documents

  • Review and assist with:

    • Immigration forms and supporting documentation

    • Client declarations and cover letters

    • Motions, filings, and court submissions

  • Ensure all case materials are organized and prepared for hearings and attorney review

  • Monitor deadlines and ensure 100% on-time filing compliance

Research, Compliance & Quality Control

  • Oversee research on immigration policies, procedural updates, and case law

  • Ensure compliance with USCIS, EOIR, and court requirements

  • Review discovery responses, objections, and supporting evidence

  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and documentation quality

Client & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Oversee client communication workflows and ensure timely responses

  • Support escalated client interactions and sensitive cases

  • Coordinate client meetings and case updates

  • Communicate with USCIS, deportation officers, and court personnel for follow-ups

Systems & Operational Management

  • Ensure consistent and accurate use of the case management system

  • Maintain complete and audit-ready digital case files

  • Track and report on team KPIs and productivity metrics

  • Identify workflow gaps and implement process improvements

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of paralegal experience, with a strong focus on removal defense

  • 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
