Remote Experiential Designer information

What is a remote experiential designer?

A Remote Experiential Designer is a professional who creates engaging and immersive experiences for users, often in digital or hybrid environments, while working from a remote location. They use design thinking, storytelling, and interactive technologies to craft memorable events, virtual spaces, or brand activations. Their work can involve virtual reality, augmented reality, online platforms, or other digital channels to connect with audiences. Working remotely, they collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams using online communication and project management tools. The goal is to deliver impactful experiences that resonate with users, regardless of physical location.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote experiential designer?

To thrive as a Remote Experiential Designer, you need expertise in spatial design, user experience (UX), and a strong portfolio demonstrating creative problem-solving, typically supported by a degree in design or a related field. Proficiency with 3D modeling software (such as SketchUp or Rhino), Adobe Creative Suite, and virtual collaboration tools is commonly required. Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills help you effectively convey ideas and work with diverse teams remotely. These competencies ensure the creation of engaging, interactive experiences that meet client objectives while maintaining productivity in a virtual environment.

How does a remote experiential designer collaborate with cross-functional teams while working remotely?

As a Remote Experiential Designer, effective collaboration with cross-functional teams—such as developers, marketers, and project managers—is usually achieved through regular virtual meetings, collaborative design platforms, and clear documentation. Most teams use tools like Slack, Miro, and Figma to share design concepts, provide feedback, and iterate quickly. Maintaining open communication and being proactive about updates helps ensure alignment across time zones. Building trust and rapport virtually is important, so participating in team check-ins and sharing progress regularly can make collaboration smoother and more productive.

Senior Graphic Designer

Location: Remote, Austin or DC (with approximately 10%+ travel supporting industry events, executive engagements, and strategic marketing initiatives)

Position Type: Contractor
Clearance Requirement: U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance

About NODA AI

NODA AI is a Veteran-owned, venture-backed technology company that is transforming how unmanned systems collaborate in complex, mission-critical environments. We are developing next-generation solutions that enable the autonomous orchestration of heterogeneous unmanned systems across air, sea, land, and space with vital applications in the defense, intelligence, and commercial sectors.

Our marketing organization plays a critical role in shaping how our company, technology, and vision are understood across the defense ecosystem. We are building a function that moves with the business, aligning corporate strategy, business development priorities, product innovation, and market engagement to accelerate growth.

Joining NODA means working on meaningful technology that pushes the boundaries of autonomy alongside a team that thrives on innovation, rapid iteration, and collaboration.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to serve as NODA's visual communications expert, enabling the marketing organization through creative excellence across print, digital, experiential, technical, and executive communications. You will partner closely with Integrated Marketing, Events & Field Marketing, Business Development, Product Management, Engineering, Video Production, and Executive Leadership to translate strategy, messaging, and technical capabilities into compelling visual experiences.

Your work will span the full creative lifecycle, from concept development and technical visualization through production and quality assurance. You will design across social media graphics and digital campaigns, executive presentations, trade show exhibits, technical illustrations, websites, environmental graphics, and customer-facing experiences.

Success in this role requires creative versatility, exceptional attention to detail, a bias toward action, and a deep understanding of the defense ecosystem. You will be equally comfortable producing polished executive communications, developing technical graphics from engineering concepts, editing photography, designing large-format event graphics, and creating digital experiences that strengthen NODA's brand and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop compelling visual communications that translate approved messaging, business objectives, and technical concepts into creative assets supporting marketing, communications, business development, recruiting, and customer engagement

  • Design and produce high-quality creative assets across the full print and digital ecosystem, including marketing collateral, executive presentations, advertising, brochures, one-pagers, white papers, social media, email, digital campaigns, and environmental graphics

  • Apply NODA's corporate brand standards, creative direction, and visual identity consistently across all marketing materials

  • Design websites, landing pages, and digital experiences that support integrated marketing campaigns, customer engagement, and business development, applying user-centered design and accessibility best practices

  • Ensure digital and print communications comply with Section 508 accessibility standards and government publishing requirements where applicable

  • Translate complex technical concepts, including AI, autonomous systems, robotics, software platforms, command and control, and mission capabilities, into compelling visual communications for technical, executive, military, government, and industry audiences

  • Organize complex information into clear visual narratives through technical illustrations, architecture diagrams, process flows, maps, iconography, infographics, and data visualizations

  • Develop creative assets that accurately represent military organizations, Federal Civilian agencies, Defense technologies, and mission environments while maintaining technical credibility and visual authenticity

  • Partner with Marketing, Business Development, Product, Engineering, Video Production, Recruiting, and Executive Leadership to translate ideas and business priorities into effective visual communications

  • Manage creative projects from concept through final production, ensuring quality, accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery across print, digital, environmental, and experiential media

  • Edit, retouch, composite, and color correct photography, leveraging official government imagery, technical assets, event photography, and original creative work

  • Prepare production-ready files for print, digital publishing, large-format graphics, environmental graphics, exhibits, advertising, vehicle wraps, presentations, and multimedia

  • Maintain creative asset libraries, templates, design standards, and production workflows while managing multiple concurrent projects

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of agency or in-house experience in graphic design, visual communications, digital design, motion design, or related creative disciplines

  • Demonstrated experience supporting a Defense technology company, Government Contracting, military, aerospace organization, Federal Civilian agency, or similarly technical B2G organization

  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional creative execution across print, digital, web, motion, experiential, environmental, and executive communications

  • Advanced proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere, and Figma

  • Demonstrated experience producing creative assets across the complete print and digital ecosystem, from traditional publishing and print collateral to responsive web design, large-format graphics, technical illustrations, and multimedia

  • Demonstrated understanding of the visual language of the Department of War, Federal Civilian agencies, military services, Combatant Commands, and the Defense Industrial Base

  • Experience selecting and applying appropriate military imagery, official government photography (including DVIDS), military customs, terminology, and organizational distinctions

  • Experience developing Section 508-compliant visual communications

  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled creative technologies to improve workflows while maintaining exceptional quality and human oversight

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Fine Arts, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience

  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing creative assets supporting Defense technology, military operations, command and control, autonomy, robotics, or other national security missions

  • Experience designing large-format exhibits, trade show environments, environmental graphics, vehicle wraps, and customer demonstration experiences

  • Demonstrated experience producing motion graphics and video content for multimedia storytelling and digital campaigns; 3D work in Cinema 4D or Blender is a plus

  • Experience creating technical software diagrams, architecture graphics, data visualizations, operational graphics, and complex information design

  • Active U.S. security clearance

Skills & Attributes

  • Sound creative judgment, balancing creativity, clarity, technical accuracy, and mission relevance to select the right visual solution for the audience and medium

  • Operationally agile, managing multiple concurrent creative priorities while adapting quickly to changing business needs and compressed timelines

  • Bias toward action, proactively solving problems and moving creative work forward without waiting for perfect direction

  • Precise and detail-oriented, maintaining exceptional standards for accuracy, consistency, production quality, and accessibility

  • Collaborative mindset, building trusted partnerships across Marketing, Business Development, Product, Engineering, and Executive Leadership while incorporating feedback constructively

  • Continuous improver, exploring new creative approaches, production methods, and AI-enabled workflows with sound judgment on their application

  • Security and OPSEC aware, with proven discretion handling sensitive, proprietary, or export-controlled material

  • Strong at stakeholder communication and technical translation, distilling complex engineering subject matter and government programs into clear, compelling visuals

  • Mission driven, with a personal commitment to supporting National Defense

Growth Path at NODA

  • Lead Graphic Designer / Creative Lead – shape NODA's broader creative direction and mentor future design talent as the team scales

  • Head of Creative / Director of Creative Services – lead the full creative function spanning graphic design, motion, video, and experiential work
