Job description

STV is hiring a Market Sector Leader (MSL) with expertise across the Planning, Design, and Delivery of Transportation-Oriented Buildings and Facilities.

As the North Market Sector Leader (Transit/Transportation Buildings), you will drive growth, major pursuits, and industry visibility for STV's Buildings Group, leading the delivery of Architectural, Planning, Structural, MEP, Land Development, and multidisciplinary building design services for transportation, transit, rail, aviation, and intermodal clients.

This role is focused on the buildings and facilities that support transportation networks and public infrastructure programs, including passenger stations, terminals, maintenance and operations facilities, administrative buildings, and mobility hubs. Working closely with transportation owners and agency clients, you will help expand STV's Buildings practice while partnering across the firm to deliver integrated solutions for some of the industry's most complex facilities programs.

Your New Role in STV's Buildings Group

In this senior, client-facing leadership role, you will leverage STV's multi-state Buildings practice to shape the Northeast strategy, lead marquee pursuits, and elevate the firm's presence as a premier provider of Transportation Buildings & Facilities design services.

You will serve as a seller-doer, market strategist, and industry ambassador, partnering across STV's "One STV" platform to help clients solve their most complex facilities challenges. Supported by industry-leading architects, planners, engineers, project managers, and technical specialists, you will drive long-term growth and position STV as the trusted partner of choice for the planning, design, and delivery of transportation-oriented buildings and facilities.

This role reports to the Buildings Group National Business Development Director and offers flexible work location options within proximity to an STV office. Hybrid or remote arrangements may be considered based on geography. Frequent travel throughout the Northeast region is expected.

What You'll Be BUILDING!

Regional Market Growth & Major Pursuits

  • Own and execute STV's Northeast Transportation Buildings & Facilities Market Strategy for the Buildings Group, with accountability for pipeline development, pursuit performance, sales, and backlog growth.

  • Personally lead and shape major pursuits involving transportation-oriented facilities, including Transit and rail stations; Passenger terminals; Rail yards and maintenance facilities; Operations and maintenance complexes; Command and control centers; Administrative buildings; Aviation support facilities, Intermodal transportation hubs.

  • Serve as STV's primary face for the Buildings Group's with agency executives, program leaders, and decision-makers.

  • Identify and influence opportunities years ahead of RFP release, helping shape program strategies, delivery approaches, and teaming arrangements.

  • Build and lead high-performing pursuit teams across architecture, engineering, planning, and specialty consulting disciplines.

  • Collaborate closely with STV's Transportation Operating Groups and other business units to provide integrated client solutions while maintaining leadership responsibility for buildings and facilities opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate opportunity planning and forecasting within STV's CRM platform (Deltek Vantagepoint).

Market Leadership & Industry Visibility

  • Expand STV's regional presence in the planning, architecture, MEP/S engineering, and delivery of transportation-oriented buildings and facilities.

  • Maintain active involvement in industry organizations such as APTA, AREMA, WTS, AIA, ULI, SAME, DBIA, ENR, and TRB.

  • Speak, present, publish, or participate in industry panels to advance thought leadership and market visibility.

  • Translate your existing market relationships and professional reputation into expanded visibility for both STV and its Buildings Group.

  • Mentor Project Managers, Project Executives, Architectural & Engineering Design Leaders, and Technical Specialists to strengthen the firm's market leadership bench.

  • Influence strategic recruiting and succession planning aligned with long-range market opportunities.

Project Delivery & Client Stewardship

  • Serve as Project Executive, Principal-in-Charge, Senior Advisor, PM, or Client Executive on select transportation buildings and facilities programs.

  • Ensure project teams understand client priorities, agency expectations, market commitments, and strategic objectives.

  • Promote best practices, lessons learned, innovation, and collaboration across STV offices and disciplines.

  • Foster long-term client relationships that generate repeat business and strategic growth opportunities.

What You'll Bring to This Role

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning (or a related discipline).

  • 15+ years of Multi-state AEC design leadership experience with a deep relationship within the Transit/Transportation Buildings Group practice supporting transportation, transit, rail, aviation, or intermodal clients.

  • Demonstrated success leading major pursuits and winning complex facilities programs.

  • Established relationships with transportation owners and agencies, including organizations such as MTA, NJ Transit, Amtrak, MBTA, SEPTA, WMATA, Port Authority, aviation authorities, and other public-sector transportation clients.

  • Credibility as a seller-doer capable of balancing client development, strategic leadership, and project delivery.

  • Previous experience in roles such as Client Account Manager, Market Sector Leader, Practice Leader, Principal, Project Executive, Architectural Studio Leader, Regional Leader, or Senior Technical Leader.

  • Demonstrated desire and capability to define, shape, grow, and lead a strategic market sector.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Registered Architect (RA), Professional Engineer (PE), or other relevant professional credential.

  • Active participation or leadership within APTA, AREMA, WTS, AIA, DBIA, SAME, ULI, ENR, or TRB.

  • Conference speaking experience, industry publications, or recognized thought leadership.

  • Proven success increasing market visibility and brand recognition for an AEC Design firm.

  • Experience building and mentoring multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices.

  • Experience integrating Architecture, MEP, Structural Engineering, Planning, Land Development, and Specialty Engineering disciplines within complex facilities programs.

  • Familiarity with public-sector procurement, major capital improvement programs, federal funding programs, and alternative project delivery methods.
