Job description

The University of Iowa Office of Admissions is hiring a dedicated Assistant Director or Senior Assistant Director, Outreach & Recruitment (100% appointment.) Their primary responsibility will be the leadership and supervision of the admissions events team. They will be responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and evaluating student recruitment and outreach initiatives that support institutional enrollment goals, with a primary focus on on-campus visits and recruitment events. They will also have the opportunity to:

  • Plan, implement and assess recruitment programs and services
  • Assists with OnIowa! first-year student transition program.
  • Support the event management module in MAUI by making recommendations to the IT technical staff for enhancements and modifications
  • Train staff, part-time student employees, and student volunteers on event content, objectives, purpose, and their roles and responsibilities in assisting with planning and execution of Admission outreach events.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience planning, coordinating, and implementing events, programs, or services involving multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience supervising or leading teams.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of recruitment and outreach events.

  • Ability to travel locally, regionally, and occasionally statewide, as needed.

  • Ability to move and transport event materials and equipment, up to 25 pounds, and perform event setup and teardown activities.

Competencies Required:

  • Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:

    • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.

    • Written and verbal communication, including presentations and public-facing interactions.

    • Organization, project management, and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities.

    • Data collection, reporting, and assessment to support program improvement and decision making.

    • Training, mentoring, or coordinating the work of students, volunteers, or staff.

    • Utilizing business systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications to support operations and program management.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education admissions, recruitment, enrollment management, student affairs, or a related field. 

  • Experience planning and implementing large-scale recruitment, visitation, orientation, or outreach programs.

  • Experience working with event management, student information, CRM, or registration systems (such as MAUI, Slate, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms).

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $60,000 - Commensurate with the top of the range reserved for exceptionally qualified applicants. This position includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
