Remote Ericsson Ran Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Ericsson RAN Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Ericsson RAN Engineer, you need a solid background in wireless telecommunications, radio access network (RAN) technologies, and typically a degree in telecommunications or related fields. Familiarity with Ericsson-specific tools like OSS, ENM, and network optimization platforms, along with relevant certifications such as Ericsson Certified Associate or Specialist, is highly valued. Strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities help you stand out in remote troubleshooting and collaboration with cross-functional teams. These skills ensure efficient network performance, rapid issue resolution, and seamless service delivery in a dynamic, distributed work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Ericsson RAN Engineers and how can they be addressed?

Remote Ericsson RAN Engineers often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting complex network issues without on-site access, coordinating with geographically dispersed teams, and adapting to rapidly evolving technologies. To address these challenges, strong communication skills, proficiency with remote diagnostic tools, and continuous learning about Ericsson's latest RAN solutions are essential. Building collaborative relationships with both local field engineers and centralized support teams also helps streamline issue resolution and ensures network performance standards are met.

What is a Remote Ericsson RAN Engineer?

A Remote Ericsson RAN Engineer is a telecommunications professional who specializes in designing, implementing, and maintaining Ericsson Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment and solutions, while working remotely. Their responsibilities include monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, performing software upgrades, and ensuring optimal connectivity and performance for mobile networks. They work closely with other network engineers, field technicians, and clients to deliver reliable wireless network services, often leveraging remote access tools to manage and configure network elements.

Job description

Description

Type: Full-Time(W2) On-site/Hybrid, Arlington, VA (Remote option available for the right candidate)

DeepSig is defining the future of wireless communications by merging deep learning with the Radio Access Network (RAN). We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to architect and drive the development of our next-generation AI-native RAN.

We are looking for a skilled test engineer to join our team focused on testing the O-RAN DU software and hardware components. The role involves planning, designing, and executing test cases to ensure conformance, interoperability, performance, and reliability of O-RAN DU in compliance with O-RAN Alliance and 3GPP specifications. The candidate will work closely with development, integration, and network teams to validate DU functionality within the O-RAN architecture.

What You'll be doing

  • Design, develop, and execute test plans, cases, and scripts for O-RAN DU software and related interfaces
  • Perform conformance testing to verify compliance with O-RAN and 3GPP standards
  • Conduct interoperability (IOT) testing between O-RAN DU and other network elements such as O-CU and O-RU
  • Execute end-to-end (E2E) testing scenarios to validate the complete O-RAN communication chain
  • Identify, log, and track defects; work collaboratively with development teams to resolve issues
  • Automate test cases and contribute to CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing
  • Validate performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure DU meets required standards
  • Participate in site commissioning and integration support
  • Prepare detailed test reports, documentation, and provide feedback for product improvements
  • Stay updated with latest O-RAN Alliance releases, specifications, and testing methodologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Proven experience in testing telecom network elements, preferably O-RAN DU or similar RAN components
  • In-depth knowledge of O-RAN architecture and interfaces (F1, E2, Open Fronthaul, A1, etc.)
  • Familiarity with 3GPP NR standards and protocols
  • Strong skills in test automation, scripting languages (Python, Shell, etc.), and test management tools
  • Experience with virtualization, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker) and cloud-native environments
  • Good understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and Linux operating systems
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting using RAN test equipment, protocol debuggers, and logging tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams

Preferred Experience:

  • 6 plus years experience at a Tier-1 OEM or US MNO is highly valued
  • Massive MIMO testing experience is must
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and automated testing frameworks
  • Experience of NFV, SDN, and virtualized RAN (vRAN) test experience is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with performance and stress testing using RAN test equipment
  • Familiarity with security testing within telecom environments
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
