Fully Remote Opportunity
Principal Configuration Analyst - SAP Production Planning (PP/MRP, PP/DS)
Full-Time | Permanent
About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Configuration Analyst with deep SAP Production Planning (PP/MRP) expertise to support and enhance our global SAP ECC environment while leading functional readiness for our transition to SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud and PP/DS. This role ensures operational stability today while designing forward-compatible solutions for tomorrow-bridging Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and IT to deliver best-in-class planning capabilities in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
SAP ECC Operational Excellence
  • Own, configure, and optimize SAP ECC PP/MRP across global manufacturing sites.
  • Support discrete and repetitive manufacturing, work centers, routings, BOMs, production versions, and MRP parameters.
  • Improve planning accuracy through enhancements to capacity evaluation, production orders, yield/scrap processes, and variance analysis.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance to troubleshoot and resolve planning and execution issues.
S/4HANA & PP/DS Transformation
  • Lead functional design, delta analysis, and readiness activities supporting the move to S/4HANA with PP/DS.
  • Define PP/DS scope, planning models, heuristics, and finite scheduling logic.
  • Align designs with S/4HANA Private Cloud standards and SAP best practices.
  • Translate ECC planning constructs into scalable S/4HANA- and PP/DS-ready solutions.
  • Reduce custom code reliance by prioritizing standard SAP configuration approaches.
Cross-Functional & Compliance Support
  • Ensure SAP solutions meet business and regulatory requirements.
  • Create clear documentation: requirements, process flows, design decisions, and configuration details.
  • Develop and execute test scripts aligned to GxP/GAMP5/CSV standards.
  • Provide support during audits, validations, and production incidents.
Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead functional design for enhancements, projects, and transformation workstreams.
  • Conduct workshops with global teams and mentor junior analysts.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and critical incident resolution.
Required Experience
  • 10+ years of SAP PP/MRP experience in complex manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on SAP ECC configuration plus experience with S/4HANA transformations.
  • Practical exposure to PP/DS (finite scheduling, capacity constraints, planning models).
  • Experience supporting live SAP planning environments during major system transitions.
  • Background in regulated industries (medical device, life sciences, etc.).
  • Experience with Agile/SAFe delivery models.
Desired Skills
  • Integration experience with MM, QM, LE, WM/EWM, MES, or quality/warehouse systems.
  • Understanding of S/4HANA Private Cloud (RISE) operating models.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing costing and variance analysis.
Core Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a manufacturing-first mindset
  • Ability to balance operational stability with long-term architectural goals
  • Excellent communication skills, translating complex logic into clear business language
  • Influences effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
Additional Information
  • International travel required 4-5 times per year.
