Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for professionals experienced in environmental science, environmental compliance, site assessment, permitting, remediation, sustainability reporting, and structured environmental workflow review.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on structured environmental science review, compliance documentation, permitting workflows, monitoring data assessment, remediation planning, sustainability materials, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their environmental expertise to review realistic environmental science scenarios, evaluate technical and regulatory requirements, prepare structured written outputs, and support accurate, evidence-based environmental workflow tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Environmental Assessment & Compliance Review

  • Review environmental scenarios involving site assessment reports, environmental impact statements, compliance materials, monitoring summaries, and regulatory documentation
  • Evaluate environmental documentation against source materials, permit requirements, technical standards, and defined review criteria
  • Support structured review of materials related to NEPA, CWA, CAA, RCRA, CERCLA, and other environmental compliance workflows
  • Identify missing information, documentation gaps, compliance issues, and expected environmental review outcomes

Permitting, Monitoring & Remediation Support

  • Review scenarios involving air, water, or waste permitting, monitoring data, contaminated-site investigation, remediation workplans, and environmental reporting
  • Evaluate permitting and remediation materials against documented requirements, monitoring results, site conditions, and technical criteria
  • Support structured review of environmental datasets, permit applications, remediation plans, field summaries, and technical reports
  • Prepare clear written explanations for environmental decisions based on source materials and verifiable criteria

Sustainability, ESG & Environmental Data Workflows

  • Review sustainability and ESG scenarios involving GHG accounting, climate-risk analysis, CDP or TCFD materials, corporate disclosures, and environmental performance reporting
  • Support structured review of materials connected to tools such as Esri ArcGIS, Google Maps Platform, SAS, MATLAB, Socrata, Esri ArcGIS Hub, or similar systems
  • Translate environmental science workflows into clear task documentation, review criteria, and structured written outputs
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and professional judgment across submitted work

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • 3+ years of experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental consulting, regulatory compliance, permitting, remediation, sustainability, ESG reporting, natural resources, ecology, or climate-risk work
  • Experience in one or more areas such as environmental assessment, NEPA, CWA, CAA, RCRA, CERCLA, air permitting, water permitting, waste permitting, monitoring, contaminated-site remediation, sustainability reporting, GHG accounting, or climate-risk analysis
  • Familiarity with tools and systems such as Esri ArcGIS, Google Maps Platform, SAS, MATLAB, Socrata, Esri ArcGIS Hub, environmental databases, or similar technical platforms
  • Comfort reading and preparing environmental artifacts such as site assessment reports, permit applications, monitoring data summaries, environmental impact statements, ESG disclosures, remediation workplans, and technical memos
  • Strong analytical thinking and written communication skills
  • Ability to translate environmental science workflows into clear, structured task documentation

Educational Background

  • A degree or professional background in environmental science, environmental engineering, ecology, geology, sustainability, climate science, public policy, natural resources, or a related field is helpful
  • Master's or PhD-level training is helpful for research-heavy or highly technical environmental work
  • Equivalent practical experience in environmental compliance, consulting, permitting, remediation, sustainability reporting, or environmental data review is also highly relevant

Nice to Have

  • Experience at a federal or state environmental agency, environmental consulting firm, corporate sustainability team, university research group, or environmental nonprofit
  • Familiarity with GHG Protocol, CDP, TCFD, SEC climate reporting, ESG disclosures, climate-risk frameworks, environmental justice, or natural-resource management
  • Experience preparing or reviewing site assessment reports, permit applications, EIS materials, monitoring summaries, remediation plans, sustainability disclosures, or environmental compliance documentation
  • Familiarity with GIS workflows, environmental modeling, statistical analysis, field data review, or public environmental datasets
  • Strong attention to detail in technical, regulatory, and documentation-heavy environmental workflows
