Annuity Product Attorney

As an Annuity Product Attorney, you will provide legal counsel and regulatory guidance for the development, filing, distribution, marketing and administration of annuity products. This role works closely with the product development, compliance, actuarial, operations, and sales teams to support innovative and compliant fixed and fixed index annuity products. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of annuity products, insurance laws and regulations, state filing requirements, and general annuity compliance.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice related to the design, development, marketing, and administration of annuity products

  • Review and draft annuity contracts, riders, disclosures, applications, and related forms

  • Support product filings with state insurance departments and coordinate with regulators as needed

  • Review marketing and training materials for regulatory compliance

  • Work with compliance and operations teams on Suitability

  • Advise business teams on insurance laws and regulations

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting annuity and retirement products

  • Provide guidance on financial professional agreements and compensation structures

  • Assist with regulatory inquiries, audits, examinations, and litigation support when necessary

  • Develop and maintain legal policies and procedures

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • 5+ years of legal experience in insurance, annuity products, financial services, or related regulatory practice

  • Strong understanding of Fixed and Fixed Index Annuities, as well as state insurance regulations

  • Experience reviewing insurance product filings and policy forms

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.

  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the company
