Job description

RRC is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer I - Solar to help us build the future of both U.S. and Canada energy production from both remote work locations and any one of our U.S. or Canadian office locations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply electrical engineering principles to support the design and development of utility-scale solar PV systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of electrical design packages including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, collection system layouts, grounding plans, equipment specifications, and construction details.
  • Support medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) system design for solar generation facilities, including inverters, transformers, and interconnection facilities.
  • Ensure designs meet project specifications, applicable codes, industry standards, and safety requirements.
  • Support interconnection design activities, including coordination with utilities and preparation of required documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining project budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Review project-related design documents and vendor submittals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform basic electrical calculations such as voltage drop, short circuit, cable sizing, grounding analysis, and equipment ratings.
  • Participate in value engineering efforts to develop cost-effective and efficient design solutions.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to support construction activities, commissioning, and quality inspections.
  • Learn and follow established company design procedures while actively contributing to process improvement initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • B.S. or M.S. (or M.E.) in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0–2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Exposure to renewable energy, solar PV systems, or power systems coursework is preferred.
  • Experience in utility-scale renewable energy projects is a plus but not required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward licensure is preferred.
  • Must be authorized for full-time work in the United States or Canada.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM, CYMCAP, PVsyst, or similar electrical modeling/design tools is beneficial but not required.
  •  All necessary training will be provided.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites for short durations as needed
