Job description

Position: Environmental Compliance Consultant 2/Environmental Scientist 2

Location: Remote

Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Travel: 25%

Apex is seeking an entry-level Consultant 1/Environmental Scientist 1 that will support environmental compliance projects for clients in various industries including e-commerce, transportation and warehousing. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented with the people and technical compliance skills needed to support client projects. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Prepare environmental permit applications and reports for client projects, facilities, and operations.
  • Manage environmental compliance data. Complete accurate, timely reports for wastewater, stormwater, and air emission permits.
  • Write and update facility plans, including stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs) and spill prevention, control and countermeasure (SPCC) plans.
  • Navigate state and federal permitting and reporting platforms.
  • Research and review environmental regulations at the federal, state and local levels; including SPCC, NPDES & discharge permitting, chemical inventory reporting, hazardous waste management.
  • Client interaction and relationship development, including onsite and virtual client meetings. Travel up to 25%.
  • Flexible working conditions. In office, hybrid or remote.  Occasional office meetings and client site visits.

What we're looking for:

  • BA/BS degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Engineering, Biology, Geology, or related discipline.
  • 0-3+ years of professional experience in consulting or industry.
  • Technical and scientific knowledge to understand and evaluate environmental impact from client operations, laboratory analytical results, and field reports.
  • Ability to successfully multi-task and problem-solve while maintaining quality and managing your own time. 
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative work ethic.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is required.
  • Familiarity with applicable environmental programs including but not limited to Stormwater, SPCC, Hazardous Waste, and minor source air permitting, recordkeeping and reporting is a plus.
