Over 10–12 weeks, you’ll learn about work we do by assisting with pricing and reserving analyses for our clients across various insurance products: personal and commercial auto, homeowners, mortgage, workers compensation, general liability, medical liability, etc. All of our internships offer hands-on experience with real actuarial projects, networking and collaboration with experts, and professional skill development.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with project teams on data analyses, create portions of client deliverables, perform technical review (“checking”), etc.
  • Develop professional skills such as communication, task management, and presenting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at all levels, including senior consultants and principals.
  • Receive mentorship and actionable feedback to support your career development.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and social events designed for our interns.
  • Build strong technical skills in Excel, R, Python, SQL, VBA, PowerBI, etc.

Individual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future. This includes international students.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience with programming or statistical tools (R, Python, SAS, VBA) is a plus.

Personal Qualifications

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with close attention to detail.
  • The ability to work collaboratively on multiple teams simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability and willingness to clearly articulate questions and ideas.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and reliability.
  • Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about risk, actuarial work, and Milliman’s mission.
  • Self-starter with effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Inspired to contribute to the success of projects and the team.

A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to: education, actuarial exams passed, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.

Benefits

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – Confidential support for personal and work-related challenges.
  • 401(k) Plan – When an employee reaches 1,000 hours worked within 12 consecutive months, they become eligible for a 401(k) plan that includes a company matching program and profit-sharing contributions.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) – Begins accruing on the first day of work; Interns, Temporary, and Seasonal Employees will earn PTO each pay period, based on 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
