Job description

Title: Tax & Accounting Manager
Address: Troy, MI 48084
Schedule: Flexible start/end times with optional lunch breaks that can count toward total hours
  • Summer Flex Fridays (June 15 - July 31): Work 40 hours Monday-Thursday and take Fridays off
  • Remote Fridays available in November and December
  • Busy Season (Feb 1 - April 15): Approx. 50 hours/week, including extended weekdays and half-day Saturdays
Salary: $80,000 - $120,000
Bonus: Discretionary Performance Bonus

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Manage and review tax and accounting engagements for individuals and businesses
  • Prepare and review tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, and related state returns)
  • Provide strategic tax planning and research complex tax matters
  • Prepare and review financial statements, sales/use tax filings, and payroll support
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, vendors, and internal teams
  • Oversee and mentor junior staff and contractors, offering guidance and technical support
  • Lead client meetings and provide year-round advisory services
  • Support business development and contribute to operational process improvements
  • Maintain accurate and organized client files, reconciliations, and fixed asset tracking
  • Help drive continuous improvement in client service delivery and internal processes
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's in Accounting, Tax, or Finance preferred)
  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience in tax and accounting
  • 2+ years of tax planning, projections, and mentorship/supervision experience
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong tax research abilities and attention to detail
  • Experience leading multiple client relationships and engagements
  • Familiarity with software like Thomson Reuters CS or Onvio is a plus
